Commercial Description:
A rich, dark and delicious porter with chocolate and coffee overtones accented by a subtle smokiness from just the right amount of peat smoked malt. Unlike a rauchbier, the "smoke" in Stone Smoked Porter is an ELEMENT of the character rather than being THE character. -- Greg Koch, Stone Brewing Co.

Bottle pours opaque black with thin quick disipating white head. Aroma is malt and light smoke. First taste is sweet coffee and a little bit of smoke. The balance is nice and finish is slightly bitter coffee and light smoke linger. Really like that the smoke is not overpowering.

22oz bottle. Pours a very dark brown, almost black body with some red tints around the edges. Thick and foamy, two-finger width, light brown colored head that dissipates slowly and leaves a lot of nice layered lacing. Solid aroma with lots of sweet brown malts and a nice fruity, soft roasty smell. Smokey, but more like a honey ham smoke than straight up smoked ham. It definitely accompanies the rest of the beer. Some sweet chocolates and licorice with just a splash of coffee. Flavor is very similar. Sweet malts and dry backing of roast and smoke. Initially a lot of sweet caramels and fruity malts with a slow developing hop bitterness. Some chocolates come in as well as more dark fruits before the smoke and roast come in to completely dry this sucka out. Not a big aftertaste, but a solid echo of chocolate, caramel, and smoke. Palate is soft, very balanced, and medium bodied. Overall, a damn good beer. Solid all around. Not a very intense hoppy/roasty porter, but I love when smoked beers have balance like this and the smoke accompanies the flavors rather than dominating them. Excellent.

Dan’s Bachelor Party Extended Weekend Rating #13 of 90. Draft at Old Town in Fishers. Appears moderately dark brown/black with ruby edges and cookie sized tan head. Nose is roasted malt, chocolate, coffee, minimal smoke. Flavors follow and blend very well. Excellent finish, very tasty.

pours deep dark brown with a slight head that looks almost creamy. stays lacy throughout. I Don’t get an overwhelming smokiness like the name would suggest... at least not like you’d find in a Paradox (Brew Dog). Great, solid brew. This beer improves greatly with warming, finding a nice balance.

Pours dark brown nearly black with a small to middling tan head. Intense smoky aroma hits the nostrils like a freight train and clears those sinuses straight out. Taste is primarily coffee with the smoky flavors coming through on the back end. This beer is not messing around.

Very dark, almost black pour with a thin lasting tan head. I have a cold, so I will just assume the aroma matches the flavor. The flavor is very chocolaty with coffee and malt bringing up the rear. The smokiness is very noticeable, but not dominant. All in all this porter is very balanced. There is no wateriness to the flavor or the feel, which is a welcome change from some other porters I have had recently. I am very happy with this one.

Aroma: Smoke, oak, malt. Appearance: Dark opaque color, medium head fades to thin layer w/ decent lacing. Taste: smokey, coffee malt, chocolate, touch of hoppyness Palate: medium carbonation, creamy mouthfeel, lightly dry. Overall: This is a really good beer, my favorite porter thus far. I love the smokeyness and balance of this beer. At $3.99 it’s an awesome value!

Bottle from Utobeer market stall. Pours black with a beige head. Aromas of chocolate, coffee, roasted malts, dark fruits. Nice. Good robust flavours of chocolate, smoke, licorice, caramel, coffee. Finishes smoky with a good hoppy bite. Tasty.
