COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A rich, dark and delicious porter with chocolate and coffee overtones accented by a subtle smokiness from just the right amount of peat smoked malt. Unlike a rauchbier, the "smoke" in Stone Smoked Porter is an ELEMENT of the character rather than being THE character. -- Greg Koch, Stone Brewing Co.

Pours jet black with a thick tan head that quickly dissipates. Smell of smoke but not overwhelming. Tastes of coffee and smoke, with a crisp finish. Very good beer. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Dark brown porter with nice off white head. Smell is wonderful smokey malt on the nose with a roasty malts taste with a burnt finish. A true delight! 99

Bottle from Coppers, Newcastle. This is a very dark brown beer with ruby red highlights. It has chocolate and red fruity flavours, a smoked/roasted body and a spicy red fruit, citrus, chocolate, oak and zesty and fruity finish. Excellent!

1pt 6fl.oz ($4.99) First time trying anything from Stone. pretty good, like the flavor a lot. It really doesnít taste like anything else and is a great match with BBQ and grilled meats. I liked it and will buy again

This porter comes out of the bottle a deep, opaque sable, nearly black, with a thick, fine-bubbled tan head. Aroma is thick and smoky and has hints of coffee, unsweetened chocolate, and what seems like wheat. Flavor is like well-roasted coffee with a subtle sweet undertone and hints of chocolate and molasses and even a touch of nutty taste. Texture is sublimely smooth but has just a bit of an edge.

Another great one from Stone. Not as much smoke as I expected but the coffee and chocolate played well with the more subtle smoke. While I never thought I would say this about a Stone beer it almost strikes me as delicate. Absolutely delicious.

Little smoked taste. Good taste of coffee notes and chocolate. Very smooth. Wonderful pour. Dark with a lite brown/white head. Wonderful overall porter for a non drinking porter guy!

so good, like every stone beer i have had the beers aroma was mostly coffee and hinted very subtly at chocolate the taste imo was very complex and amazing, strong coffee flavors with hints of chocolate and caramel which is very nicely ballanced by hoppy bitterness will definitely drink again very thick but not syrupy on the palate

Aroma: Smoke, Chocolate, Coffee Appearance: Dark brown with tan head and slight lacing. Taste: Chocolate, Coffee Malt with dark Chocolate malt finish. Palate: Full Bodied with soft tannins, dry finish. Overall: Sip & Savor. As a porter lover Iíd highly recommend this as a porter for that porter drinker looking for something to enjoy thatís different. Stone takes this one and runs with it.
