COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A rich, dark and delicious porter with chocolate and coffee overtones accented by a subtle smokiness from just the right amount of peat smoked malt. Unlike a rauchbier, the "smoke" in Stone Smoked Porter is an ELEMENT of the character rather than being THE character. -- Greg Koch, Stone Brewing Co.

Dark brown in colour, almost completely opaque, but when stretched at the sides...some lighter brown shows through. A nice large-bubbled brown head tops the beer, with adequate lacing on the sides. The smell is typically that of a normal Porter, a small amount of smoke and tobacco, but pretty subtle. The mouthful is nice, not too thin, not too thick and the carbonation is not overwhelming. The flavour is pretty good, definately smokey and some chocolate and roasted malt tones are picked up. A pretty good beer, but thats really what you come to expect from Stone. I've been looking forward to trying this, and I wasn't disapointed.

Overhopped, bitter, somewhat rancid. Iím wondering if I got a bad bottle, because I cannot fathom how this beer is enjoying such a high overall rating on Ratebeer. Yuck. Almost a pour-out. Tastes like someone dropped a cigarette butt in a bottle of Big Rock Traditional Ale.

22 oz bottle. Tasted on 4/4/15. Bottle courtesy of Espo. This had a pretty mild smoked element to it & was pretty well balanced with the chocolate & Mike bitterness. Pretty nice overall. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle, finally getting a chance at this. We get most of the flavored varieties here, but never the plain?! Anyway, deep brown beer, decent almond colored head, good lacing. Aroma dried plum, coffe, smoke, toasted barley. Taste is toasted barley, faint fruit, coffee. Palate a bit light, carbonation a bit sharp, for style. I like the hops at the finish, this is almost dry.

Incredible deal and wonderful aroma and taste of coffee and chocolate. Good and quite as heavy bitterness in the aftertaste that fills the mouth for a long while. Exquisite beer and enjoyable. Follow me @ Kung av Ųl @ Facebook for more pictures and ratings.

Dark pour with tan head. Aromas of smoke, roasted malts, chocolate, spruce. Well balanced between smoke, roasted malts, and a sprucey bitter finish. Good.

From bottle to tulip. Aroma of restrained chocolate and coffee. Moderate cedar. Pours brown with ruby highlights. Light brown head sustains around the outside with large bubbles. Very limited lacing. Taste is moderate high peaty, which predominates over the other flavors. Moderate low biscuit, and slight semi-sweet chocolate. Moderate high bitterness.
