A rich, dark and delicious porter with chocolate and coffee overtones accented by a subtle smokiness from just the right amount of peat smoked malt. Unlike a rauchbier, the "smoke" in Stone Smoked Porter is an ELEMENT of the character rather than being THE character. -- Greg Koch, Stone Brewing Co.

Dark brown in colour, almost completely opaque, but when stretched at the sides...some lighter brown shows through. A nice large-bubbled brown head tops the beer, with adequate lacing on the sides. The smell is typically that of a normal Porter, a small amount of smoke and tobacco, but pretty subtle. The mouthful is nice, not too thin, not too thick and the carbonation is not overwhelming. The flavour is pretty good, definately smokey and some chocolate and roasted malt tones are picked up. A pretty good beer, but thats really what you come to expect from Stone. I've been looking forward to trying this, and I wasn't disapointed.

Pours a deep brownish black from the bomber with fluffy tan head that dissipates to leave moderate lace. Aroma of mild smoke, earth, tobacco, and roast. Taste is smokier than the nose, roast takes a back seat. Really solid, but the vanilla is better.

Black colour, off white head. Aroma of plums, slightly smokey, coffee. Taste is light sweet, slightly bitter. Light to medium body, silky texture, soft carbonation.

Very fine Porter. Highly drinkable with well hidden alcohol. Not so intensive in case of taste and aroma which are mostly roasted malts.

Tap@Taphouse, Copenhagen (Stone TTO 27/11/2016) - pours black with a beige head. Aroma and taste is roasted malty, with coffee, chocolate, caramel, cocoa, decent hoppy backing, some charred smokey malty action into the finish.

A grown manís porter. Poured from a bomber interesting a tulip glass. The pour produces a dense 2 finger light tan head. The appearance is a rustic dark brown with a black core and garnet hue at the outer edges. The aroma is sweet caramel and bakers chocolate with smoke and small amount of wood and earth. The flavor is caramel up front with toasted and roasted grain. Then comes the smokey malt bomb. The finish is long and pleasantly dry.

Orange hue in the blackness. Dark chocolate nose. Lovely smooth body with a hint of smoke & full coffee flavour. A beautiful beverage. Rated by BrewTom

Draught. Nice porter with medium strength smokiness and bit of sulphur notes in aroma. Medium body and carbonation, lightly bitter in finish. Quite OK, but I expected more smoky beer.

Visual: Pours dark walnut brown with a smallish dissipating head, thin ringed microfine retention, micro streams all around.

Nose: brown sugar barley malts, caramel. (lvl-6)-intensity

Attack: smooth-crisp

Mid-palate: roasted barley malt with underlying coffee sourness, dark chocolate, (lvl-5-sweetness),

Finish: bitter roast, bitter hops,

Summary: The complexity is certainly there and the flavour transitions are seamlessly smooth. Some smoke, but rather reserved and refined - Great balance and finesse.

22 oz bottle shared by ebone1988 for the fucking book because I guess I pissed someone off in a past life. Thanks a lot. The pour is a darker ruby/light brown with a lot of translucency and a thick ivory colored head that slowly falls down to a thick collar and film. The aroma is not good. There is a ton of metallic malt and a strong smokiness. A hint of chocolate and a light roast really bring up the back end of this shit show. The flavor is smokey garbage. There is a thin metallic malt and a ton is smoke. Itís got a light chocolate happening but itís just a mess. The mouth feel is thin and slick with a very light carbonation and a lingeringly smokey and metallic malt finish. This is smokey water and Iím quite unhappy.
