COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A rich, dark and delicious porter with chocolate and coffee overtones accented by a subtle smokiness from just the right amount of peat smoked malt. Unlike a rauchbier, the "smoke" in Stone Smoked Porter is an ELEMENT of the character rather than being THE character. -- Greg Koch, Stone Brewing Co.

Dark brown in colour, almost completely opaque, but when stretched at the sides...some lighter brown shows through. A nice large-bubbled brown head tops the beer, with adequate lacing on the sides. The smell is typically that of a normal Porter, a small amount of smoke and tobacco, but pretty subtle. The mouthful is nice, not too thin, not too thick and the carbonation is not overwhelming. The flavour is pretty good, definately smokey and some chocolate and roasted malt tones are picked up. A pretty good beer, but thats really what you come to expect from Stone. I've been looking forward to trying this, and I wasn't disapointed.

The beer pours a very dark (almost black) color with a cream color head, that never quite fades away. To begin the smells of malts, a bit of coffee and chocolate reign over the beer and the taste is pretty similar with a light smoky flavor to it as well. Overall a damn good beer for the price/

Pours black with ruby highlights and a rocky khaki head that leaves some thick lacing. Nose involves some mild roasted notes, mild smoke, light chocolate, with a fresh earthy hoppiness to support. Nice balanced sweet and bitter flavors. Medium bodied, softer side of active carb, with a full roasted, smoky, dry and toasty finish. Enjoyable brew, surprisingly subtle, well put together, and tasty.

Bottle, thnx to Stakem, Cheers!! Pours a very dark, almost black beer with a medium sized, beige head on top. Aroma is of chocolate, light smoke and roasted malts. Not like a typical smoked beer, much more subtle. Flavour is medium sweet, with touches of chocolate and vanilla. Light smokey, leathery finish. I really like the way how the smoke is being present in the background, making the body more full than a regular porter. Low abv, yet full flavoured and yet easy drinkable. Very nice beer!

Pours a deep dark brown color with aroma of coffee. Taste is slightly smoked, with rich coffee flavor. The smoke flavor is slight but rich enough tocome through the entire beer. I’m not a fan of smoked beer but this one was enjoyable.

Bottle. Black in color, khaki head, smoke/coffee aroma, ash or burnt wood in taste and across the palate, with the ash feeling through the finish. Its a pretty well balanced experience with a dry Smokey feeling all the way through.

Dark brown porter with nice off white head. Smell is wonderful smokey malt on the nose with a roasty malts taste with a burnt finish. A true delight! 99

UPDATED: JUN 9, 2013 Moderate aggressive pour. Huge head of coffee/mocha brown. Very nice lacing. Jet black beer. Arome is full of light smoke notes and some malts and yeast. Smoke balances well with yeast and malt which is apparent on the finish of the nose. Moderate body on palate, but expected a bigger body for a porter. Hop character overpowers on mid sip. Also bitters overpower on the finish. Carbonation on tongue offers unplesant bitter character. Hints of malt and yeast on initial sip, but quickly replaced with bitter hop taste. Very little smoke character noticeable throughout the tasting. Also very slight smoke flavor essence near the finish. Wouldja - No.

Very light porter. Texture is watery with soft carbonation. Burnt malt in aroma, but it’s pretty watered down. Pours dark brown with good head and lacing. Finishes a little bitter. On tap at Blue Monk.
