A rich, dark and delicious porter with chocolate and coffee overtones accented by a subtle smokiness from just the right amount of peat smoked malt. Unlike a rauchbier, the "smoke" in Stone Smoked Porter is an ELEMENT of the character rather than being THE character. -- Greg Koch, Stone Brewing Co.

Utterly delicious porter here especially when it warmed up. Lots of chocolate, roasted malts, dark fruit, and the merest hint of wood smoke evident in this one. Another great offering from Stone...

EBD 7/17/14. Clear dark amber pour (similar to Coke) with a nice garnet note. Normal head and retention very good lacing. Nice complex nose of chocolate, light roast with toffee/coffee notes, a very subtle hint of dark fruit and a light smoky character that becomes pronounced as it warms. Light medium bodied with an almost smooth texture. Good carbonation with a bit of effervescence on the finish and in the middle. The flavor profile is quite nice, balanced - with a smoky skew - and complex. It begins with roast, then fades into a light chocolate sweetness. The middle effervesces into a burst of smoke and light hops over a well balanced bitterness. As it flows into the finish, hints of dark fruit emerge. The finish leaves you with a nice smoky aftertaste that lingers over hints of dark chocolate.

Pours a dark black with tan head. Has a coffee, nut, malt, and chocolate aroma. Starts with a coffee and chocolate taste and continues with smoky flavors, malts, and coffee grounds. A very distinct smoky lingering aftertaste.

On draft. Aroma of chocolate covered raisins. No real smoke flavor or aroma. Instead some vanilla, cocoa and maybe some fig. Good beer, just not much rauch.

Bomber poured black with a big beige head that dissipates quickly. Very drinkable coffee toffee caramel hints but not sweet. Best part is if you nurse it and let it warm , the last bit has an almost scotch/peaty smoke taste to it. Very nice autumn beer....Just like all the brewery’s selections.

Keg at the Rutland Arms; coca cola brown pour with a creamy tan head, aroma has a hint of smoke, taste has chocolate, peat, maybe some leather, not a massive amount of smoke but just enough for my likings.
