A rich, dark and delicious porter with chocolate and coffee overtones accented by a subtle smokiness from just the right amount of peat smoked malt. Unlike a rauchbier, the "smoke" in Stone Smoked Porter is an ELEMENT of the character rather than being THE character. -- Greg Koch, Stone Brewing Co.

Somehow I have never had nor rated this brew from Stone. This is really quite surprising considering how many of the other Stone brews I have had. Deep dark ruby body topped by a rocky tan head. Glass lacing is very nice. Aroma is smoky with a good amount of roasted malt and chocolate malt. I also get a good wallop of citrus hops. The flavor is smoky but not nearly as much as the Alaskan Smoked Porter. There are lots of chocolate and nutty flavors. The hops are noticeable. The body is medium-full with an acidic bite towards the end. The finish is medium dry there is a little bit of lingering sweetness but not overly much. Overall a very nice brew.

Lis of punch. Toasty flavour. Very dark brown to black colour, with a little bit of an off-white head.

tap. Brown with small head. Smoked porter with some woodiness. Surprisingly more wood than smoke. Bitter hops in the finish. Dry.

I was just browsing the porter rankings and noticed I didn’t have this rated, but I’ve had it several times... Including about two weeks ago. This is a pointless rating, don’t read it. It’s good.

Bottle from Rehills of Jesmond.ppurs mahogany with a cream head. Peaty smoke aroma. The taste is smokey with spiciness and burnt toast notes. Nice, but not quite as amazing as I’d hope for from Stone.

650ml bottle. pours a rather dark brownish black with thin, firm tanned head. aroma is dark malts, coffee, cocoa and dark fruits but no smoke. taste is smooth bitter cocoa and coffee with a malty finish. alas, no smoke either but still, a great porter.

650ml brown bottle. Medium amber colour, clear. Beige foam, creamy bead. Good lacing. Aromas of chocolate and light smoke. Roasty dark malt and coffee flavour with late entering smoke underneath, nice bitter malts in the finish. Body is a bit thin. Tasty.

I don’t know if I got a bad batch or if my taste buds are a little flat today, but i remember this beer being more complex and more smokey the last time I had it. it tastes really bland for a stone beer. the smokiness is muted and it tastes a little watery. it’s still a good beer though with good chocolate and coffee notes

Vom Fass, Schwarz im Glas, extreme Röstaromen in der Nase, frisch im Antrunk, die Röstaromen kommen wieder im Abgang. Hatte ein viel schwereres Bier erwartet, gut trinkbar

Nice dark amber color, pleasant smell but nothing overwhelming. Taste is more mild and drinkable than I expected. If you’re looking for a Porter this is a good one.
