4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
UPDATED: DEC 29, 2011 Bottle. Poured a dark muddy black with dark ruby red highlights beaming around the edges of the glass. It had an average sized (1-2 finger) light brown creamy head that lasted a nice while, leaving a layer of foam floating on top of the brew which resulted some excellent lacing.
The aroma was was bold to say the least. It had a strong scent of roasted caramel malts, a leathery yeast with a subtle smokey odor and had notes of dark roasted coffee, dark chocolate, and a touch of raisons.
It tasted wonderfully lightly bitter-sweet with nice notes of dark chocolate, caramel and dried fruit in the beginning then became a tad more on the bitter coffee side and had a mild smokey finish that was left lingering on the palate for a really nice long time.
Mouthfeel was medium to full in body (I am leaning more towards full) and smooth and creamy in texture with a nice light soft carbonation.
Overall this was an awesome brew. I am always a little leary about smoked beers but the flavors in this one melded so well together that it left me wanting more.

Bottle, BB 28/08/15. Appearance is very dark mahogany brown, with a 1-2 finger pillowy beige head which slowly subsides. Aroma- chocolate first and foremost, dark malts, caramel, burnt toast, tobacco smoke hints. Taste- barbecue smoke, burnt malts, chocolate milkshake, bitter coffee grounds, biscuity caramel. Smooth mouthfeel, with some carbonation in the background. Very nice stuff.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Always have enjoyed this. Big but subtle smoked malt and chocolate aroma. Dark brown but not solid color with a full head. Medium to light body. Flavor is complimenting smoke to a roasted chocolate base with earthy and woody tones. Hops give it a solid bitter and dry finish.

4.6 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
Ah, Stone Smoked Porter. You tasty, tasty bastard, you. I’ve shared good times with your Vanilla-infused sibling, but you’re just as delicious all by yourself, aren’t you? Wait, why am I starting this review by addressing the beer? Why did I think that was a good idea? Forget it. Stone Smoked Porter smells like coffee, chocolate, and smoke. It tastes like it smells. The peat character and acrid bitterness are subtle enough not to be overpowering but assertive enough to enhance the roasted malts. Mouthfeel is dry and robust. Honestly, I wasn’t able to drink enough of this to make me happy. Smoked Porter made me a better person in the short time it was in front of me.
