Tap at hops and poem clear dark reddish brown with a thin tan head. Aromas of citrus, grapefruit, pine, bourbon, and spice. Flavor is the same with a bog bourbon front. Medium bodied, balanced and smooth.

Solidly in the "glad I tried it, but a one-timer" catergory. Three times as much and a step back from the awesome SSR base beer. VERY nice, but the hops definitely take a back seat to the barrel...making this a spicy, boozy, slightly sweet (and much stronger) black IPA. The bigger Stone 15 held up better in the barrels, but this was still a treat.

I love Sublimely Self-Righteous and I love Templeton Rye Whiskey, so this should be a match made in heaven. Deep brown with a tan colored foam. Wood, rye spice, and earthy hop aromas are a natural combination. Alcohol covers much of the roasted flavors that are present in Sublimely. Dry, bitter, and spicy finish. The rye whiskey adds a ton of character, but also changes this beer completely.

Black in color with tan colored head. Bourbony aroma. Sweet chocolate cake with roast undertones and sweet bourbon vanilla-caramel-coconut booze flavors that balance the hop character. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle at the Black (IPA) Friday tasting, acquired from the shop at Stone Liberty Station, 09/05/14. Light black with a good sized tan covering. Nose is bourbon forward, roasty tones, coconut shavings, spice, pine, bitter grapefruit. Taste comprises dark malts, roasted tones, spice, cocoa powder, bitter grapefruit, more coconut bourbonic licks. Medium + body, fine carbonation, warming alcohol in the close. Solid complex BA CDA.

Dark. Nice whiskey nose though taste difference is very subtle. Maybe linger cellaring changes it a bit. --- RATED

Leighton 10K tasting at Bruce’s pad. Thanks to Colin for this quality.CDA. Almost opaque dark brown beer, small pale tan head. Palate is smooth and a little airy and soft. Mild fine carbonation. Smooth dark malt with a little dark malt cream. Mild dark.chocolate. Coconut. Little bourbon spice. Mild piney hops. Finishes light with tangy fruits coming through. Well integrated. Complex and very drinkable.

Bottle shared in London - big thanks to the Colinator. Pours deep brown with a frothy, tan head. Great nose, lots of rich cocoa, some torched wood, brown sugar. Medium sweet flavor with burnt toffee, wood, baking cocoa, oily toasted pine. Full bodied with fine carbonation. Warming finish, some dark fruits, cake, dry cocoa, burnt wood, earth, more burnt toffee. Pretty interesting beer. Definitely punchy. Solid stuff.

Bottle @ Chez Bruce. Deep brown, small head. Melon and orange covered in vanilla and toffee. Some wood. Taste is pretty hot, doesn’t secure the bourbon barrel ageing. Hot woody bitterness. Bear claw donut and vanilla. Full and oily, sweet. Get the epipen. OK.

Bottle shared by Brad at GTMW line, pours a really dark brown with a thicker brown head, the aroma was pretty boozy, quite a bit of the rye and whiskey coming through for sure, the flavor is pretty much the same, maybe a slight hop touch at first but then mainly overtaken by the whiskey and the barrel, interesting.
