3.8 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
22oz. bomber. Pours a deep, dark brown with a medium tan head that laces nicely. Wonderful aromas of fresh hops, baked apples, brown sugar and hints of pear and malt. Flavor is of hops, caramel, pears, and spice with hints of malts to finish. Has a very smooth, velvety mouthfeel. One of the more interesting brews I have had in a while, but awesome all in itself.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Dark brown. Hoppy aroma, good and strong, IPA like, as it is. Good head. Bitter, but not horribly so. Doesn’t look hoppy but is. Expected more malts. Hop taste is strong not overpowering and smooth.

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
22oz bottle: poured very dark brown with a large brown head. Big bitter hop aroma. Flavor was mostly hops, some pine and citrus notes. Mild maltiness which lends to the slight sweetness in the finish. Good.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
22 oz bottle 10/10/07: Very dark brown w/a lasting light beige head... Great lacing! Strong citrusy & piney hop up front! Bready malt, and very subtle roasted grain aromas. A touch of alcohol in the nose and some light caramel notes. Hop dominant flavor, but not as strong as the nose. More well balanced between bready malt and soapy, piney hop flavor. Very, very, light roast & chocolate dark grains in the finish. Light grassy and herbal hops in the aftertaste. Dry finish w/ resiny hops.. sort of sharp! Medium body, lower medium CO2, well hidden alcohol, but dry m/f from hops and alcohol. Very interesting beer and nice use of the dark malts to add some complexity. Definitely hop dominant, and I’d like to see more malts in the flavor, but that’s just me! Very nice dark IPA though!

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle. Moderate malt notes of toasted and cereal, heavy hops of perfume spruce and resin, light leather for the yeast , with raisins , wine ,wood, vanilla, alcohol and cardboard in the background. Head is light brown, creamy with some small bubbles, has good lacing and is mostly lasting. Color is a very dark brown to black. Flavor starts lightly sweet, acidic and bitter, then finishes lightly acidic and moderately bitter. Palate is medium, creamy and has a soft carbonation. Heavy and rich in aroma, light in flavor, it seems to be a mix of DIPA and porter. Not that it’s a bad thing, just a bit confusing.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
First Official Houston Tasting. Dark garnet black color with a rich mocha colored foam head. Great lacing. Huge hops nose. Orange and other citrus aromas with a roastyness near the end. Solid hop flavor with a great creamy malt finish. Has the body of a stout and the soul of an IPA...oddly wonderful.

4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Pours a dark brown with gold tones that allows very little light to pass through. The aroma is is filled with grapefruity hops that dominate pretty much every Stone beer’s nose. The flavor is quite interesting. There is a lot of hop bitterness with the citrusy floral notes of the hops being the most prominent flavor, but there is also the sweet, complex, and rich chocolate and roasty malt flavors balancing in the background. It seems that it is not often that the malts of very hoppy beers are individually complex as opposed to just added in for balance against the massive hop profile. The finish is crisp and clean and the mouthfeel was excellent. Overall a great, interesting, and uniqe beer.

4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
22oz brown bomber bottle. Served in a Duvel glass.
Poured an opaque brown/black. Lots of carbonation.
Fine bubbled light tan head about two fingers.
Big citrusy hop aroma with some molasses.
Medium body. Some roasted malt to start.
Lots of hop bitterness. Good malt backbone. Long dry finish with plenty of hop bitterness and a lingering chocolate. Very drinkable. A unique beer that was great fun to drink. Schwartz IPA?
