Draft at Stone Liberty Station. This is a darkie (no racist). Dark brown with a small beige head. Roasty berry aroma with strong coriander and orange. The flavor is interesting, like a classic wit with orange and coriander, finishing with a dry roast and hint of smoke. Lighter feel with average carbonation. Sort of crazy, but good. Donít hate on the wits!

On tap at the holiday ale fest. Pours a dark copper color with a large beige head. A light fruity malty biscuit nose. Sweet malty base, pine, berry, odd one. Interesting.

Sampled at GABF 2015 with Andrew, Paul and Moreau. Pours a deep brownish black body with thin off white lacing. Mouthfeel is medium to thin-bodied with notes of spice, burnt malt, herbal character, lemon and burnt toast.

Draught @ Stone Tap Room, San Diego. Aroma has lots of "sipuliteemakkara", feels spicy. Flavour has spiciness, some roastiness and dried fruits. Too spicy and otherwise bland.

Pours pitch black with a smooth white head. Aroma of yeast, roasty malts, hints of licorice, smoked ham and spices. Taste is fruity, slightly yeasty and roasty with hints of yeast, earthy notes and licorice. Finish is roasty, slightly fruity and yeasty with hints of licorice and spices. Quite untypical but pretty tasty.

Draught @ Stone Brewing Taproom, San Diego, CA. Pours a black colour with a small white head. Aroma of clove, wheat and some rubbery notes. Flavour of grassy hops, harsh graininess, toasted malts, floral notes and clove. Medium bodied. A bit too high carbonation. Decent.

October 25th, 2013 - A black witbier? Is this a Lewis Caroll beer? Things are topsy turvy, but itís an interesting idea, and Iím ready to pay for it. The body and brew are predictably dark, with a heavily malty nose. Roasted dark coffee and and chocolate are the loudest smells. But the flavor is more mild than the nose lets on. That maltiness is tamed but not diluted by the wheat background of the beer. So, really, a malty wheat beer. Itís a funny taste, and Iím trying to wrap my head around it to the last sip, but I like it, and appreciate the style-bending.

On tap at Stone Brewing garden in Escondido, CA. I got the last glassful squeezed out of the cask. Opaque, black-brown with a small khaki head and fair lacing. Aroma of chocolate, wheat, orange and cola. Taste of chocolate, wheat, roasted malt, orange and especially cola. Medium body and medium/low carbonization. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
