Black in color with a khaki head. Smells like hot dogs. Coriander, roasted malt, wheat, and some yeast. Just can’t get past the hot dogs. The flavor has a really strong coriander note, some roast, wheat, and yeast. Light citrus, and light hot dogs.

This beer has a great Witbier flavor. Nice and dark as well. It’s a nice addition to the Stone collection.

Draft. Pours near black with a beige head. Mild roasted and chocolate malts, zesty coriander notes, hints of bitterness, and light almost citric fruity notes. Odd, but it kind of works.

On tap at Liberty Station. It poured a black color with an off-white head. The aroma was of grass, florals, roast and light chocolate. The taste was of hops, perfume, grass, hay, chocolate and roasted notes. Nice.

UPDATED: OCT 24, 2014 Sample at GABF 10/03/2014, thanks to my sis for assistance with note-taking. Brownish-black color with a medium fluffy beige head that diminishes gradually. Patchy lacing. Aroma of roast malt, fruit and spices. Light-bodied with flavors of toasty malt, spiced wheat and fruit. The finish is herbal wheat and malt. Above average overall.

"A solid wit behind a mask of dark malts. They come through on the palate more in feel than flavor or aroma, though there is a very light chocolat & roasted malt aspect. Mostly a refreshingly fruity, but slightly more complex than usual wit. Kinda reminds of the Bruery’s equally as good version of a black white."

On tap at Stone. Pours black with a white head that leaves a lot of lacing. Crisp and spicy aroma, of yeast, citrus, and a hint of darker malt. Taste is an interesting balance of spices, yeast, grass, preserved citrus with underlying toasted malt. Lingering spice and toast notes. Interesting and tasty.

Tap at the 2014 OBF. Pours very dark brown with a beige head. Aroma dark chocolate, dark malt and lots of wit things. A bit weird. Flavor is lots of zest, spice, and other wit things stomping all over chocolate and dark malt. Finishes spicy, fruity, lightly chocolate and definitely bitter. Que another beer style? Cascadian wit?

Taster on tap. Black beer, opaque, and has good adhesion and a stable head. Smells like light berries and mixed fruits. A good dark beer for the summer, hallelujah! Righteous taste, quite different, session-able. Decidedly a mix of the two styles, wit and black ale, light palate, just a little bitter at the end.

Draught at Stone World Bistro Liberty Station, San Diego. Black beer with a nice lasting offwhite head. Hoppy perfume aroma, grassy, floral, roasted, some chocolate. Floral hop flavor, perfume, grass, hay, chocolate snd roasted notes. Hoppy roasted finish with perfume, grass and some grapefruit.
