COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Stone & Wood Pale Lager has a sparkling light colour, and a flavour that strikes a fine balance between its subtle hop aroma and full malt palate with a soft clean finish.

Light body, not much going on. Maybe malt accent. Barely any hops. Competition for macrobrew.

UPDATED: AUG 26, 2013 Bottle 33 cl from a centrally located bottle shop in Melbourne I didn’t note the name of. Sampled on July 26, 2013.
Edit, it was apparently "vintage cellars - little bourke street (chinatown)".
Clear golden color, white head. Sweet, malty scent. Malty, sweet taste. Medium mouthfeel, low bitterness.

330ml bottle. Clear and amber in colour with goosd carbonation and an audible crackle as the pillow of fluffy white foam settles. Hop aroma with an underlying hint mof sweetness. Lively in the mouth with a mild bitterness, easy drinking.

Clear pale gold body with short white head. Sweet malts on the aroma and in the taste, soft carbonation and not a lot of bitterness. A couple of stubbies went down easy enough and probably could drink even more as it was pretty simple and had nothing filling it out but I think the price might be a bit too high for most punters.

Bottle. Yellow with a small white head. Caramel and cereal malt nose with some hints of hops. Medium ongoing carbonation. Fairly sweet and thin. Hardly and bitterness. Sweet and somewhat metallic finish. Just another pale lager.

Out the bottle, chilled and into a pilsner glass. Big burst once the cap comes off sees it rise up and out. Very lively on the pour too. A few minutes later and I have a bright medium gold lager with a mixed bag of bubbles raising up little more than a single loose layer of white suds. Dry, grassy hop, mildly vegetal nose with a good whack of fresh cracked, black pepper and a hint of lemony sour malt and barnyard grit (Australia’s first original Euro-lager on the nose!). Dry palate with a herbal zing to it. Mildly bitter, metallic POR-like swallow, dusty, with some cardboardy malt. Body is light, watery, well-lagered with some fizz. Metallic aftertaste lingers. Not too good at all really. They captured a little ’VB’ and ’Crown’ in the flavour of this one, hopefully intentionally to justify its all Aussie macro taste, despite the Euro-trash aroma. Hmmm!! Draught. A solid lager without much to add. I am sure if pleases the punters during mid summer.

UPDATED: DEC 17, 2009 Disappointed after the Ale, which is quite a good drop. Bland boring, and whilst not offensive, has few redeeming qualities. As Hawthorn said - Just another pale lager.

The good: the aroma is nicely honeyish. The bad: flavour is light malt; it feels thin and dry. The ugly: yellow colour with no head.
