Brewed at OG 1048 and ABV 5.0%. A light golden, dry, strong ale, slightly fruity with a well balanced hop flavour and bitterness - simply a Top Class Beer which has won several major beer festivals.

Cask. Light orange. Bready malty with some caramel. English, earthy, bit herby, hops. Some butterscotch. Quite ok. A very caramel- malty english ale. Not as much as a scottish though.

Cask@moonunderthewater, Wolverhampton (JDW). Gold amber colour medium head, good lacing. Faint floral aroma. Taste is of medium bitterness with a hint of grapefruit. Quite smooth and a little creamy on the palate. A good pint.

Cask at Hamilton Hall, JDW, London. Pours perfectly clear, yellow-gold with a wimpy, white cream head. Very light toasty grain aroma. Light to medium sweet flavor, dry grains, mild toasty grass, leaves, dry orange rind. Light to medium in body with fine, soft carbonation. Faint toasty grain malt finish with a bit of toasty grass and leaf bitterness, very faint nuts, some vague, aged citrus fruits. Not terrible, but wholly uninspiring.

From cask in wetherspoon Postal order in worcester. Subtle yet flavoursome easy drinking pale ale. A sweet aroma and and start which finishes with a slight bitter aftertaste. Creamy head which lasts. Personal favorite of mine now :)

Looks like a poorly formed golden ale, but has a very nice hopped taste to it.

Draft. Clear gold beer. Some sulphur on the nose. Small white bubbly head. Semi dry palate. Rich lagerish malt but also carries some sulphur from the nose. Sweet yellow fruits towards the end. Okay but a bit messy.

Cask at the Salopian Bar, Shrewsbury. light aroma. Hint of caramel. Very easy going ale that could easily be consumed in vast quantities! A collie in the bar was given quite a taste by his owner and it's fair to say he enjoyed what he drank! So it's 10/10 from the canine world too :-) ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Tasted this at the Troon Beer Festival in September 2001. Cask, handpump dispense. Clear straw in colour with a thin white head. Strong lemony hops present in the resiny aroma. Thin resiny mouthfeel and poor lacing. Pale malts give a sweet lemon meringue pie flavour which is short in intensity. Strong oily hop resins impart a bitter and astringent aftertaste which jars abruptly with the sweet malt. Finish is dry with floral hops adding extra bitter resins, full in the mouth. Expected more from this 5% Golden Ale though.
