9th Aug 2012: The lovely old ‘White Hart’ in Ellesmere, Shropshire. Hand-pulled pint. Golden brew with a thin white covering and a thicker collar. The nose was hoppy: floral more than citrus or pine, some hints of sweet malty molasses also in the aroma. The taste was almost all hop; mixed spices and some caramel: the brewer is a Kiwi, hence the occasional bit of New Zealand in the beers. Light bodied and bordering on bland at times although it is refreshing and a thirst quencher: having said that the 4.6% ABV is hidden well, so there must be something to it body wise.

UPDATED: OCT 16, 2009 Cask, Nottingham 09. No, no, no. Can’t believe I’ve spunked my last token on this. Orange gold with a slight mist, and a swirl of suds. Generic mushy Leffe-style wheat, coriander, parsley, leafy herbs, Swedish biscuit. Drab but OK. NZ hops not showcased to maximum effect. Good excuse to get some more tokens in. Boring and mealy.

Cask at Kingston BF, 28th June 2008, with renffisch. Amber in colour with a good aroma of caramel and fresh honey. Smells stronger than it is. Caramel and molasses are well balanced by grassy hops and the finish is smooth and long. A good beer.
