Pub (4119), Banbury, Oxfordshire, England May 9, 2008 Cask conditioned at Banbury Beer Fest ’08. Amber with no head. Pretty straightforward, up and down dry bitter. Malty, biscuity with a modicum of hops. Probably Fin is right here, it doesn’t travel too well.
Fin (2357), Merton, Oxfordshire, England Oct 22, 2007 Cask at the Admiral Benbow, Shrewsbury, Salop, 19-10-07 Another corker from Stonehouse, looking at some of their ratings one can only conclude they either don’t travel too well, I had them quite close to their stomping ground, or this pub was keeping them in tip top nick, I think a combination of the two maybe. This beer poured amber again it had that soft malty aroma of its stronger stablemate Cambrian Gold. The taste was instantly toffee/fudge but with good bitterness towards the end with a nice citrussy hoppiness about it. A great session beer. Carlus12 (361), London, Greater London, England Oct 15, 2007 Cask @ Beer Circus, Croydon. Golden / amber colour. Aroma is malty / nutty with a hoppy citrus buttery flavour and finish. Pretty drinkable. DownsouthGav (602), Greater London, England Oct 12, 2007 Cask @ Beer circus. Malty sweet and moderately dry. Hoppy with a dry fininsh. downender (1616), Bristol, Gloucestershire, England Sep 29, 2007 Cask-conditioned at the Royal Oak, Bath 28/9/07. Amber coloured with a decent, off-white head. Fruity malt aroma with some orange hops. The flavour hinted at some red fruit, before a dry finish. Good.
