My local grocery has an interesting new selection of bottled bitters and while I know I’m not in for the best at least it’s something better than Asahi, right? Light copper with a tall, rocky, white head. Malty, fruits, and light yeast make up the aroma. Where is the flavor? Very light malts, and a touch of bitter fruit. Refreshing mouth, though. Very light bitterness. Meh, not terrible, but far from tasty.

Back in the day when it was still brewed in Sheffield, when it was available as a Cask bitter, it was magnificent. Light and smooth but packing a punch it was worth making a trip for.
My rating is for this and this alone, do not go near it in cans, or Wetherspoons

Gawd! How things change....I used to love this beer, for me it was easy drinking, flavoursome stuff and quite easy to get hold of. I’d all but forgotten about it until I saw it in Asda in Carlisle, where a 4 pack was just over the Ł2 mark...that should’ve rung a few alarm bells, but nostalgia clouded my thinking and I rushed home and cracked open a can....Either its changed or my taste has, I suspect the latter!

A pint at the Wetherspoons in Wimbledon. Served very cold with little aroma and an ugly orange appearance. The flavour is hoppy but chemical and there is an unpleasant aftertaste. Overall, one for the drain!

Can. A pale gold bitter with a thin white head and things floating in suspension - nasty. Stale malt and fruit to taste, sourness in the finish. Horrible drainpour.

UPDATED: AUG 10, 2007 440ml can.
Like some before me, I am a sucker for beers you can chug away at on a hot day. This is one of them. First tried in Blackpool on a blistering hot day, after a long walk. Mild caramel and hops do come through.

Light yellow colour, with a sharp hop nose, and a sweet citrusy hoppy bitter flavour.

440ml can. Pours a golden colour with a small white head; caramel aroma; thin and malty body with lots of carbonation; and a bitter finish.
