Pours a lightly hazy orange/brown with a medium bubbly/creamy off white head. Aroma of toffee, dark fruits, malty sweetness, alcohol burn, caramel, pecan pie and vanilla. Flavor of dark fruits, vanilla, pecans, molasses, brown sugar, some bitterness still sticking around. This one was a nice surprise, wasn’t sure how it was holding up going into it, but very nice. dm9831 (1168), Monee, Illinois, USA

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Nov 25, 2007 220z bottle: Pours a hazy amber with virtually no head. Lacing is also lacking. The nose is characterized by toffee and dried fruit. My first taste was harsh as the bottle was too cold. As it warmed up notes of caramel and toffee with a bit of coffee were what I found. The alcohol is still noticeable. The palate is good but I want a little more of a coating than this offered. Overall this is a good beer but I feel like they gave up balance to achieve a beer bigger than the Arrogant Bastards at Stone had brewed before. BückDich (4856), McCall, Idaho, USA

Nose of sweet caramel and plum, decent hops. The flavor is plenty sweet, subtle and balanced, very nice. Creamy and caramelly, light alcohol. Notes of pine and grass, beautiful barleywine, wish I could get some more.
