Bottle at Bistro. Gold with a small head. But the again I didn’t pour. Flavor is mostly caramel with some sticky pine. This beer has held up very well.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
220z bottle: Pours a hazy amber with virtually no head. Lacing is also lacking. The nose is characterized by toffee and dried fruit. My first taste was harsh as the bottle was too cold. As it warmed up notes of caramel and toffee with a bit of coffee were what I found. The alcohol is still noticeable. The palate is good but I want a little more of a coating than this offered. Overall this is a good beer but I feel like they gave up balance to achieve a beer bigger than the Arrogant Bastards at Stone had brewed before.

RBSG 07 Minneapolis Grand Tasting: Hazy copper, no head or lacing. Nose of sweet caramel and plum, decent hops. The flavor is plenty sweet, subtle and balanced, very nice. Creamy and caramelly, light alcohol. Notes of pine and grass, beautiful barleywine, wish I could get some more.

RBSG 07 grand tasting. A golden amber pour with a light head. abv comes through. The sweetness comes through as well as a dried fruit an excellent flavor. Palate is as solid as could be, I really like light carbonation. Everything about this beer was very good.

RBSG 2007 Grand Tasting. Thanks to DecaturStevo for sharing the last remnants of the bottle with me! Cloudy orange/amber with no head. Sweet malt and dough nose, a bit of smokiness. Rather sweet, malty caramel and raisin offset by a bit of citrusy hop. Soft mouthfeel. Very nice.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
UPDATED: AUG 20, 2007 Rating #3600... Bottle… RBSG 07… This beer rocks!… Hazy light amber ale with a small, fizzy, off-white head. Aromas of cookie dough, caramel, toffee, dried apricot and sweet port dominate my nostrils... they flare in defense. The flavor sways between citrusy hops and caramel malt and finally falls just barely on the bitter side of balance. Full-bodied with a silky, then astringent mouthfeel and pillow-soft carbonation. Finishes bitter and boozy. Thanks to ElGaucho for providing the bottle of this world class brew!

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Sampled at the RBSG ’07 Grand Tasting room. Cool bottle supplied by El Gaucho. Pours a cloudy brownish-amber brew with an average off-white head that quickly dissolves. Aroma of sweet raisins and dry pitted dark fruit. Taste is sweet and full bodied. Flavors of caramel, raisins and sweet molasses fill this soft carbonated brew. Finish is lightly sweet with a dry aftertaste.
