4.8 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
I couldnít believe some of the reviews on this beer; itís one of my favorite porters! Although after reading, I thought about their points a bit more. I do agree, the vanilla/chocolate tones may be overpowering a bit, but I actually like that. Itís a little sweet, very robust in flavor, and smooth drinking. It is maybe a little watery in comparison to other similar porters/stouts like the Aspen Meadow Vanilla Cream Stout (very thick, but not as tasteful imo), but the taste of this beer more than makes up for that. Itís definitely one of the beers I look forward to drinking when the weather turns colder.

Okay, folks: this one really doesnít work. I was very receptive to the concept: chocolate stout, vanilla porter, why not? But the vanilla needed to be subtle, not sledgehammer. The head is non-existent; the beer is flat, thin, and watery. I bought a sixer of this because of Chicagoís ridiculous law against buying single 12-ounce bottles (some stores do allow you to put together a mixed six). And guess what? Iím returning the other five tomorrow.

I drank a couple of these, and threw the rest of the 6-pack out. Maybe I got a bad batch. Iím a big fan of porters, but not this porter. I canít put my finger on why I didnít like it -- perhaps it was the lack of balance and depth, and a watery consistency.

Not as sweet as the name might imply, and a tasty brew. Not something I could drink everyday, but that goes for a lot of beers.

Chalk up Stoney Creek for the worldís most annoying web site! Now down to the beer. They mention a ítouch of vanillaí. Iíd have to say that the vanilla is overpowering in the arom and flavor. I had this after a meal and it was really a good choice for a dessert beer. A little too carbonated, but a couple of swirls of the glass fixed that. Other notes: small head, little to no lacing, rating from bottle.
