Radek could've chosen a better 1000 than this drain pour. Very dark brown - fine. Big maple syrup aroma - huh? Light wood in there, too. Palate is very heavy-handed with the vanilla. Sweet, one-dimensional. Did someone say booooaaaarrrrk?

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle... Murky, almost black ale with burnt orange highlights and a small, creamy, beige head. The nose is of an old-fashioned vanilla cola with hints of chocolate and coffee. Light bodied and fizzy. Finishes short and crisp with just a hint of vanilla. Thanks go out to OhioDad for the bottle.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
12oz bottle. Spicy cola-like nose... sugar, sweet vanilla extract, and caramel cola sugar, a little like a root beer aroma as well. It actually smells pretty good, but it doesn’t smell like beer. Sips initially thin, but the carbonation comes out as it rolls back over the tongue... sweet caramel, vanilla and maple, with a nice backing of blackened malts... which means it has those common qualities of a brown ale (which I pretty much hate), but the added flavor and body from the porter-like malts. Pretty solid brew, even it if does seem like a cola at times.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Pours a mostly opaque black with some brown edges and a thin, fizzy, light tan head. Sweet toasty caramel, milk chocolate and vanilla bean aroma with a faint hint of roastiness. Body starts with some artificial tasting sweet vanilla, a thin palate, and some milk chocolate and roasted malt in the finish. An interesting concept, but would probably work well with a thicker body and slightly less vanilla character.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Poured a deep black with a short well-retained tan head. Aroma was of roasted malts (primarily chocolate) as well as some vanilla bean. Flavor was just like the aroma, and the vanilla carried through the finish. My only problem was the lack of complexity. Medium-bodied and nicely coated the mouth. Very nice all around, and would serve well as a lighter apertif beer.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
I was expecting an overpowering vanilla aroma/flavor but that was not the case. The coffee flavor was great but it was a little on the carbonated side. Very thin head although it had a nice chocolate color. The downside is I can see this beer not having much longevity. It makes a great dessert beer but I wouldn’t want to throw back a 6-pack. All in all, a decent porter that I would definitely get again (just one at a time).

Ufff . Over 2 years at RB. Met so many great people, so many memories and now I am making another one. It is historical moment at least for me. Hey it is even for Poland (maybe they should consider this day 28-VI as national Beer Holiday). 1000 rated beers. Rated at Clark St. Ale house (RB 2003). Very soft vanilla on top of gentle roasted grain. Well aroma was good. Dark brown porter. Very unusual combination off coffee, chicory with vanilla (or vanilla extract). Light, strange missed idea. Bitter sweet is my 1000, oh well I shall do better on my 10 000 .I will be 45 years old by then. Thanks guys to share this moment with you!
