COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Contract brewed for Jones Brewing Co.

A smooth refreshing all grain beer. This beer is brewed and aged the natural, costlier way. Using the finest barley, malt, selected grains and hops to produce a smooth and refreshing Stoney’s beer.

In the bottle. This is my favorite beer made by this brewer. Sure, it is a typical pale lager style- yellow, white head, fizzy. There seems to be a slight bit more maly flavor to Stoney’s than the other lines. Plus, the returnable 16 oz bottles that I stupidly destroyed in the autoclave were awesome.

This is my boat beer. IT’s in cans, and doesn’t harbor a lot of flavor. Perfect for the heat. Am I supposed to drink Imperial IPA while fishing????? I think not. Worse than Beast? Old Mil? Someone needs a hug. I’ve paid more for a lot worse.

The aroma is watery and metallic with adjuncts and a touch of funk. The appearance is pale gold with a small head. The taste is like the aroma with a pronounces maltiness. The palate is thin but OK. Overall the beer is almost undrinkable but has enough malt to keep it from being a drain pour.

Pale gold, brief white head. Grain and soap in the nose. Medium sweetness and body. Taste of oxidized hops at the tail end. I got this for $4.99 a six pack (16 oz cans) at Whole Foods...I got what I paid for.

Golden copper color with a light rim head and no lace, light ascending carbonation bubbles. The taste is caramel malt cut toward the finish with harsh carbonation. Typical of big box beers, perhaps a little more going on. Probably good for slugging.

Smells sweet, pale yellow, fluffy head. Off tasting malt, little bitterness, run of the mill.

UPDATED: MAR 19, 2010 This is a rerate because I’m really disappointed in the "new" Stoneys beer. It’s not nearly as good as when it was made by Iron City. Where Iron kept to the original recipe for the most part, this contract brew is just a run of the mill macro: more watery, less flavor, drier and less drinkable.

Passable, but not anything special going on here. Had a slight saltiness that made the beer palateable. Clean crisp and boring.

Unpleasant, has a strong soapy taste with a taste of bad vegetables. Light tasting and nothing special. Not much else

Bottle from Fratto. Hazy color, not clear at all. Smells a bit sour. Tastes sour an bitter. Not my cup 'o beer.
