A German ale that really tastes like an American ale with good balance and nice hop flavor. This is absolutely not ordinariness among German brewers who rarely dare to experiment with beers outside the comfort zone.

50cl bottle, pours golden-yellow with a big tight white head, aromas of pine cones and a little grapefruit and pineapple. Palate is hoppy with hints of tropical fruit, a little nuttiness underneath, faint touches of bread and freshly-cut grass, drier than the initial fuity maltiness would suggest, dry-bitter finish. A nice surprise from a German regional.

bartlebier (451) - Baden-Württemberg, GERMANY - DEC 30, 2012
50cl bottles Maruhn - Moderately priced, convincingly APA-hopped Vollbier/Kellerbier with a great light nose of citrus and peach, light body, some cream, no disharmonic notes - professionally brewed. Great entry level-APA style summer beer for the German market, made for session drinking and easier on the stomach than some other German simcoe-hopped APA-style Vollbiere. A case of this on my list for spring...

kiwianer (2309) - Mönchengladbach, GERMANY - DEC 25, 2012
The head is robust, the body yellow-golden. It smells hoppy, citrus a bit pellet-grassy. The taste is a bit creamy hoppy, tasty, a bit malty, fruity-hoppyaromatic. The aftertaste is still hoparomatic. Overall nice! 12/12/12/12/14/12

Very pale looking ale. Unfiltered. Clear hops, citrus, grapefruit. Bitterness continues until a long aftertaste. Dry finish. A non-typical style for a German beer.

500 ml bottle. Thanks Timo A.
Pours a cloudy yellow colour with a white head. Aroma of strong citrusy hops, mandarin orange and some earthy notes. Flavour of strong citrusy hops, floral notes, kiwi, mandarin orange and some yeast. Medium bodied, slick mouthfeel and soft carbonation. Finishes bitter and fruity. Rather nicely hopped and good.

yngwie (10754) - Kristiansand, NORWAY - NOV 10, 2012
Bottle. It pours a lightly unclear body, golden in color and with a dense, off-white to light beige head. It’s citrusy on the nose, grapefruit mostly, with some pale malts in the back. Green pine cones and some resins. The flavor is on the hoppy side, with green pine cones and some grapefruits. Medium to full body, pleasant carbonation. A surprising beer from Störtebeker, pretty decent too. 121110
