COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION

0.5l bottle from karstadt in charlottenburg, 1.19€. pours a slightly hazy dark chestnut with a medium tan head and some lacing. aroma of toasted malts, rye bread, sour milk, toffee, berries. flavour is very sweet, bready, caramelly, chocolaty, slightly nutty. sticky mouthfeel, flat carbonation, sweet and slightly bitter finish. not the best störtebeker.

500 ml bottle from Der Vaterland, via Christine (Danke!), served quite cool in a tulip glass.

App.: Very deep brown with a fairly tight tan head. Aroma: Oddly savoury/brothy, a bit of a sweet caramel note, faint roasted malt, something like red berry jam?, a faint ash tray thing, burnt toast, raw malt graininess, all over the place! Palate: Medium-full body, low-ish carbonation, syrupy. Flav.: Holy sweet malt beverage, Batman!, milk chocolate, some caramel, faint dark-roasted malt; quite sweet with limited bitterness, borders on cloying, with a sweet chocolate, faintly roasted and candy-like finish.

Nein, Danke.

13 Dec 2015, bottle. ruby brown, clear, no bubbles. nose is sweet, whole wheat bread. med body and moderately fizzy. very very sweet for a porter and not very burnt. it is very malty, some burnt notes in the background but the sweet malt is so sweet it really dominates.

0.5 l bottle from Neuruppin. Very sweet malt aroma, like sugar. Too sweet taste, misses all typical coffee and nut aromas. Tastes more like Karamalz.

Brown, medium beuge head, some lacing. And this is where the good news end. Sweet, sweet, caramel and sweet everywhere. Ok. Some roasted malt in aroma too. The rest is sweetness.

Form the bottle pours dark Red with off white head, quickly vanishing. Malty sweet taste, nut hints hazelnut but very very sweet malty aftertaste. Interesting...

50cl bottle shared at home. Dark brown with a small tan head. Light to medium body with moderate carbonation. Very sweet with some bitterness in the background. Brown sugar, caramel, ripe fruits and toffee. Way too sweet, this was quite awful.
