Biergenuss.

UPDATED: JUN 22, 2014 Bottle from Alko, Helsinki. Pours murky light brown with a medium-sized frothy head. Aroma is typical for a hefeweizen; it is both fruity and spicy. The emphasis is on wheaty maltiness with a touch of rye and banana. Taste, however, is more original, as it is influenced by rye. It is on the whole quite sweet but balanced. Toffee, banana and darker fruity esters feature with notes of rye and toasty malts. The palate is medium bodied, slick and very drinkable. This is one of my favourite wheat beers: it has all the attributes of a good hefeweizen but is also original, even a bit similar to sahti. Overall a distinctive rye hefeweizen.

Smell of yeast, banana, grain. Muddy colour, high foamy white head. Aroma of banana and other fruit, yeast. Apart from a faint bitterness and grainy aroma, not too much rye to be noted. Flattish carbon, mid-oily texture. Sweet and faintly bitter.

A dark brown beer with a medium and blond head. The aroma has wheat, bananas, sourness, some toffee and from spices there are at least carnation. Nice aroma with some sahti nuancees. Taste has wheat and bananas, also some toffee, spicyness and sourness. Medium bodied, strong carbonation. Fresh to drink even the darker nuancees. Positive surprise, nuanced.

50 cl bottle.
Pours clear orange color with a large head. Distinct rye and wheat on the nose, some yeasty notes and mild caramel also. Caramel and sweet and mildly ripe fruits on the flavor, subtle banana notes, some grassy notes and yeast. Full-bodied, slightly sour palate with a lingering fruity finish. Decent, a positive surprise.

Murky dark orange to light brown beer with quickly vanishing white head, no head at all after 30 seconds, looks almost like sahti. Yeast particles on the bottom and carbonation sparkling towards the surface. Aroma is sweet with honey, ripe banana and caramel. Some citrus and light smokiness as well. Flavor is caramelly sweet with banana and some peppery yeast. Thin palate with high carbonation. Finishes with mild bitterness, leaving a slightly appleish sour, rye breadish, peppery yeasty aftertaste with some banana. My first roggen-weizen. This one is kind of a light dark weizenbock. OK, nothing special.
