2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Pours a hazelnut brown to black color, together with a beige, bubbly lacing, coating the edge of the glass.
Has aromas of dried walnut shell, bread, rock sugar and a note of milk chocolate. All in all the nose comes well together promising a sweeter, malt relying beer.
Has a soft mouthfeel among a lighter body, which features many Dunkel qualities in a well put together way, ranging from bready to toffeeish sweet.
Begins with slightly tart milk chocolate, coming along with a soft bread and earth malt foundation, which turns sweeter, revealing toffee qualities right before the swallow. Gets added a portion of rock sugar during the finish, balanced by earthy marzipan and bakers chocolate, preventing the beer from becoming overly sweet.
Solid beer, with a pleasant finish, absorbing a lot of the prominent sweetness, adding a nice depth to the taste.

On tap. Süßlich-caramelliges Schwarzbier. Kaum Herbe, keine Lakritze. Süffig-mild, karamellig süßlich im Nachgeschmack mit einem Hauch von Röstmalz. Schade.

3.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle. Deep dark brown and clear with a tan, smooth-rocky medium head. In the mostly aroma of malts mostly bready, light sweet caramel and just some hints of coffee and roast along with light floral hoppy notes. Sweet starts of and stays light to medium sweet but eventually turns a bit dry in the finish. Flavor is dominated by roasty and coffee notes, however there are not distinctively strong. The with is medium with light carbonation and a smooth mouthfeel. It leaves a pleasant light sweet coffee aftertaste. While the aroma and flavor as such is not overly strong it still lays a decent foundation, however, the harmonic and well balanced taste with a pleasant sweetness and just the right amount hoppy bitterness is the real strength of the beer.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
At just on cool and into a Kӧstritzer flute. Ruby tinged black and radiant with a rocky, tannish mousse atop that weaves a thin lace. There is an earthy, peaty, topsoil and charred meat/kelp umami waft coming from the glass. Hints of milk chocolate and dusty cocoa add a depth. Lean in body with a prominent earthiness, sweet front and malt driven flavour. Light tannins with a blood/rust finish. There is chocolate in there but it is rich in cocoa and has a softly bitter edge. Overall it has a toffee sweetness that shines but the earthiness balances it nicely. Very approachable!
