COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION

Dark chestnut colour. Maybe some chocolate on the nose, but mostly it smells industrial. Some caramel on the palate..sweet sweet. This is a true industrial dark lager, bland as hell.

Flaske 50 cl. Mørkebrun hælde med et lille off white hoved. Aroma af karamel og chokolade. Smag af ristet malt, karamel og svag kaffe. Let syrlig mundfornemmelse som fortsætter i afslutningen. Dejlig Schwarsbier

(bottle) pours a hazy dark ruby-brown colour with a frothy beige head. aroma of toasted malts and hazelnuts, with a light hint of coffee and herbal hops. flavour is the same, with a nice toasted malt profile, a little residual sweetness and a mild roasted-bitter finish. light to medium-bodied with average carbonation.

Bottle. Murky dark brown. Aroma of cola-flavored candies. Real thin. Tastes like bad artificial black licorice. I’m being quite generous with the score here, this is a pretty nasty supermarket quality beer.

Bottled from Aachen. Very dark brown color with the usual thin, slightly off-white head. Sweet aroma with some hops. Flavour is hoppy hoppy, with chocolate and sugar. lively carbonation, heavier the average schwarzbier body. Nice!!

Bottle. Chocolate malt and wood aroma. Opaque brown-black color with small head. Sweet woody chocolate malt flavor. Finishes a bit watery. A bit light but tasty.

Brought a bottle along on a camping trip through France. I still think this is a strange style, I always expect the black brews to be very thick bodied and high in ABV, but these schwarzbiers are just very watery. This one is quite nice though. It has quite some flavor with licorice and loads of roasted malts, while still remaining very drinkable. Strange bitter finish, but I presume that’s the roasted malts. Only the setting is a bit strange, and this brew is less suited for the heavy sunshine I’m currently enjoying. Might be better to drink one in a rainy German city somewhere late autumn.

Bottle from Carringtons, Chorlton. Dark brown pour with a decent tan head. Nose had traces of roasted malt, dark fruit and coffee. Slid down very clean and smoothly. Similar story to the nose in the flavour with some tasty dark chocolate notes and a hint of smoke. Quite often German beer has left me thoroughly underwhelmed, but I really enjoyed this.

(Bottle, Monk’s Café Sveavägen, Stockholm) Dark brown colour with frothy, beige head. Malty, roasted nose with dark bread, caramel and hints of spices. Malty, roasted taste with notes of dark bread, raisins and a mild spicy bitterness. Medium body with some brown sugar sweetness. Well balanced and tasty.

darek beer offwhite head. smells malty and of chocolate and pears not very hoppy. tasts bittersweet and of malty dark bread (pumpernickel-like) and of pears, abit chocolaty, perhaps a little bit to sweetish for me aftertaste is malty and some hops are coming trough, in a herbal way, with a hibnt of hay.
