COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION

Smell the coffee, taste of dark chocolate in a thinner form than a classic Staut. Ideal to have as dessert beer.

50cl bottle from Bon Voyage, Berlin. Pours dark brown with a small light brown head. Roasty aroma with malt, coffee, chocolate and hints of caramel and hops. Medium body with fairly lively carbonation. This was my favourite from the tasting pack I tired some years ago, and I still find this one very nice. Rich and roasty flavorus with a balanced bitterness. Surprisingly refreshing and not as sweet as some schwarzbiers I have tried. Sessionable, and certainly a decent brew in my opinion.

Bottle. A clear dark brown colour with a small light brown head. An aroma of roasted malt, coffe and liqourice. The taste is medium sweet and light bitter. A little thin body but all together a good schwarzbier

The aroma is well-balanced and roasty. Refreshing palate. I’d recommend this, although it is not as diverse nor refreshing as the best schwarzbiers.

Creedence (282) - Boston, Massachusetts, USA - MAR 17, 2013
500ml bottle with friends. Pours a hazy treacle brown/black with a thin off-white head. Aroma is a subtle blend of chocolate, caramel, pine and sweet citrus. Tastes mainly sweet with a hint of hop bitterness - mostly caramel again with a breadiness and underlying herbal pine. Quite tasty. Lingering sweet aftertaste, lively carbonation, but a disappointingly light mouthfeel for such a dark beer. Quite impressed with this offering, it served as a nice contrast to the Brooklyn Lager I was drinking. Would drink again if I could get my hands on it.

TEJA (1215) - Stockholm, SWEDEN - MAR 9, 2013
Bottle from a sixpack at Systembolaget, Sweden. Low carbonation when opening the bottle. Big brown head that is semi lasting. Sweet chocolate aroma. A bit chocolate also in the taste. Smooth taste with small bitterness. Medium body and just a medium beer.

50 ml bottle, piured into a big english pint glass. ABV 5.0% Deep brown colour on the body. On top a two fingers tall beige head with low retention and no lacing left behind. Aroma is mostly roasted malts, with hints of dark chocolate. Taste is mildly bitter and follows the nose. Lots of roasted malts and at some point the dark chocolate kicks in and gives this beer a very nice flavour, with just a tiny bit of sourness on the finish, where I also tasted some spices. Medium on the body with light to moderate carbonation. I got this with a six pack of different Stortebeker beers and till now this one was the best of them.
