light bodied, refreshing brew uses a small amount of caramel malt to give it a nice amber color with a hint of sweetness. Lower hopping rates and a smooth dry finish make this the perfect session beer to help you celebrate 25 years of Stoudt’s beers. 6 pack holder also indicates their Karnival Kolsch yeast is used.

I agree with other ratings, overall this is a good amber ale, but nothing great. For 25 years, I would expect something more dynamic. Great session brew, clean, crisp easy drinking and enjoyable. Well balanced.

UPDATED: JUN 3, 2012 12 oz bottle poured into a nonic. Pours a perfectly clear, light amber with a dense, large frothy khaki head. Head has good retention, light carbonation and ample rings of dry lace. Very mild aroma, caramel malt forward, light biscuit, and finish of light earth and grass. Flavor is similar to nose, starts mildly sweet and caramely with some fruity esters from the yeast, before a drier, earthy finish. Nice balance of sweetness and bitterness. Medium thick, creamy body with active carbonation. Not the most exciting beer, but no obvious flaws and I like that they made a nice sessionable beer for their anniversary to complement the barrel aged 5025.

A very nice example of the style. Pours a light amber with a thin head. Analytic caramel atoms dominates. The flavor is well balanced with the malt and some crisp hops. The finish is crisp and clean.)

Draft at Blue Dog. Pours dark straw colored, more gold than brown, with off-white head. Nose is caramel malt, yeasty fruit, hops. Tastes assertively hopy, with mid-palate caramel malt and some yeasty finishing notes. The hops take center stage here, and this one is nicely balanced. A hoppy and very good amber ale.

Malty with slightly citrus and floral hops. Medium bodied. A good amber ale that would be great in their normal lineup. I wonder what the thought process behind this was, though. For an anniversary beer you'd think they'd go a bit harder.

I think the key word here is ’Session’, where other breweries create an over the top beer to commemorate their inception Stoudt’s gives us an easy drinker Amber Ale. Copper body, light hops, with grain, and caramel flavors. Amber 25 is definitely a beer you can drink and enjoy all day.
