Commercial Description:
Stoudt's Double IPA is a strong, full-bodied ale with an intense hop character and deep golden color. This unusual brew is characteristic of the newly recognized style of extremely hoppy and malty ales of American origin. The Double IPA is our strongest beer with an alcohol of over 10% abv and bitterness of more than 75 IBU's. Multiple kettle hop additions and generous dry hopping contribute to the powerful yet smooth and fragrant hop character of this beer. 10% abv.

Thanks again to the wife. Merry Christmas. Malty Aroma, very clear in the glass with a reddish copper color. Tastes dry like scotch with a mild burn. This ones a little interesting to me. The alcohol isnt as well hidden as I expected. lots of grapefruit flavor in there. Piney and earthy, but yet somewhat sweet. The more I drink the better I like it. More of these would be OK with me right about now.

12 oz into pint glass. Great clear amber pour with a frothy white head that leaves nice lace. Sweet (but not at all too sweet) doughy hoppy aroma thats very nice. The flavor is very similar with a bit of alcohol, but only enough to balance the beer -- superbly easy going for 10.6. Im so surprised right now to see this high of an abv. I was expecting it to be a well hidden 8 percent. Anyways, this is a creamy with medium to minimal carbonation. Overall: this is a really solid IIPA that is so easy going that I would be scared getting a 4/6/whatever pack of it.

An excellent imperial/double IPA. Hoppy and almost spicy, but balanced. Strong and flavorful, but very smooth. Pours golden brown.

Bottle@Home. Very fruity and grassy aroma. Light hazy, dark yellow, yellowish head, good lace. Very sweet, very bitter, very fruity, grassy. Thick, syrupy, oily even. Overwhelming but well balanced.

12oz bottle. Big thanks to abcfan for this one. Pours hazy burnt orange with white head. Good lacing. Aroma is hops, graipfruit, citrus, pine and sweet malt. Flavor is hops, citrus, sweet malt, and booze. Mouthfeel is thick and sticky. Alcohol really comes thru as beer warms up. Best to have this one cold as I enjoyed the first half of my glass better than the last.

Didn’t realize that thsi woudl be so strong. Had this on draft in the Philadelphia airport. Had to stagger a bit to the gate. Would like to get my hands on some more.

Bottle... thanks to either John or Dave... not sure which! Slightly hazy orange pour with big bubbly off-white head. Good lacing. I think this might have been a little less than fresh. Sweet and hoppy, with notes of orange peel, a good bit of malt, both earthy and astringent notes... but maybe it was just the high booze content. Definitely tasted boozy. Surprisingly thin palate for such a high-alcohol beer.

Bottle. Pours a slightly hazy dark amber with a somewhat small white head. Aromas of citrus, pine, and hops. Slightly sweet in the mouth and very smooth, especially given the 10+% ABV. Finishes rather smooth as well with a very slowly developing and long lasting bitterness. Excellent IPA.
