Commercial Description:
Stoudt's Double IPA is a strong, full-bodied ale with an intense hop character and deep golden color. This unusual brew is characteristic of the newly recognized style of extremely hoppy and malty ales of American origin. The Double IPA is our strongest beer with an alcohol of over 10% abv and bitterness of more than 75 IBU's. Multiple kettle hop additions and generous dry hopping contribute to the powerful yet smooth and fragrant hop character of this beer. 10% abv.

Draft at BT. Pours an orange body with a thin white head. Huge hoppy floral nose. Sweet grapefruit, pine, a note of honey and loads of citrus punch. Good beer i had no idea it was 10+ on the ABV.

Pours a hazy pale orange with a small white film head and some lacing. Aroma is medium sweet with floral, grapefruit and resiny. Flavor is big citrus with lighter pine notes and a nice caramel backbone. Medium bodied, sticky texture. Finishes dry, bitter and short.

Hazy orange-gold with minimal white head / Cooked pine and citrus nose / Medium body, semi-sweet, balanced malts and hops, with good finish / Flavors of pine, cooked grapefruit, violets, honey, and spun sugar / Sharpen the hop flavor and they’ve got something. More the bigger malt, triple ipa style.

Pours a medium copper color with a creamy white head and excellent lacing. Floral hop aroma with hints of malt and alcohol. Taste is complex, with a hoppy character, but not as hoppy/bitter as I expected. Caramel malt balances the finish, with a chest warming alcohol. Another excellent beer from Ed Stoudt and company.

Bottle thanks to daknole. Pours a bright and clear bronze color with a medium white head. The aroma is full of caramel and loads of citrus hops. The taste was very nice; sweet and flavorful citrus hops, some sweeter candies and rich caramel malts also. A great creamy and full mouthfeel. Some light bitterness, but not overly so. The finish does leave some soapy bitterness on your palate. An excellent IPA.

dark amber color with a moderate off-white head. Very hoppy, spicy, and floral aroma. Flavor is huge hops, and a little sweet, but very smooth. The high alcohol level is very well hidden. Excellent.

I was very underwhelmed by this beer. I am usually a IPA junkie and double IPA’s are terrific to me. This was very boring though

Bottle from dakine, thanks! Dark orange in color, good two finger sized head. The head lingered and was frosty. Solid aroma of fresh pine/citrus hops. Smooth creamy texture that practically slid down my throat. Very well balanced, the hops were not overpowering at all. No trace of the ten percent alcohol eithier. I am impressed, mainly in the texture and how easy this was to drink. I have passed this in my store plenty of time and now I regret not picking it up earlier. Thanks dakine for sending this one back around my way.
