Commercial Description:
Stoudt's Double IPA is a strong, full-bodied ale with an intense hop character and deep golden color. This unusual brew is characteristic of the newly recognized style of extremely hoppy and malty ales of American origin. The Double IPA is our strongest beer with an alcohol of over 10% abv and bitterness of more than 75 IBU's. Multiple kettle hop additions and generous dry hopping contribute to the powerful yet smooth and fragrant hop character of this beer. 10% abv.

As Larry David would say: Pretty, Pretty Good. Pours a nice strong head that fades after a few minutes but leaves behind some nice lacing. The Stoudts Double IPA has a nice dark golden color. I had braced myself for a big hop flavor and I got it but not in that bad way. While saying it was balanced would be pushing it as that is not the point of this beer but it was very smooth and as balanced as a Double could be. The bitterness hits you on the way out though and if you stop sipping for a bit you are still tasting the bitterness.

Taste 7/8, bottle(date incomprehensible/smeared ink) Looks: Very thick head atop a golden torso. Aroma: 1st hops-citrus/soap, 2nd caramel chewiness. Taste: Foamy goodness of the head adds a little texture to a thick bodied IIPA. Nice malt ratio/recipe- keeps from astringent/soapy affair. Nice. Thick foam hangs on to the glass like a mountain climber. Well done! Never tasted the alcohol.

Nose is a hopbomb. Grassy nose with some tangerine notes. Quite a foamy pour. Flavour is orange and grapefruit on top of caramel. Bitterly dry on the finish.

Nice beer, I had on tap at Mellow Mushroom. Very hoppy aroma but the beer itself is malty and full flavored with some great hop flavor. If you are looking for a big and bitter hop bomb, this isnt it. If you are looking for a well crafted beer, this is it.

Pours cloudy orange with an off white head. Aroma is extremely hoppy and somewhat fruity. Flavor is actually somewhat malty but with a long bitter finish which hides the ABV very well. Good Stuff

Pours a dark gold with a thin white head. A refreshing hoppy nose and a smooth bitter finish, with carmel malt undertones throughout. Can hardly taste the alcohol, or maybe it’s just getting the better of me. Very smooth and easy drinking.

Bottle. Pours orange with a beige head. Citric aroma with peach, perfume, and caramel. Medium body. Hoppy flavor with citric and perfumy notes, as well as a bit of caramel. Alcohol is noticeable but not overwhelming.

Draft: Poured a golden amber color with a nice white head. The aroma was hops, flowers and some spice. The flavor was strong hops and a bitter taste. Overall, a decent brew that was easy to drink.
