swoopjones (1862), Buffalo, New York, USA Jan 8, 2008 On tap @ Coles Buffalo NY. Pretty solid DIPA. Full hop attack is lacking a little. Nice hop aroma & deep golden color. some citrus up front followed by a nice sticky hop presence on your palate. Alcohol is well hidden. Very smooth & very drinkable despite the high ABV shackinetics (132), Florida, USA Jan 2, 2008 Updated: Oct 23, 2008pours copper/gold with moderate head and lacing. Punchy, hoppy aroma with lots of citrus and earth tones. Exciting hop taste, pretty well balanced, but more on the orangy sweet side (maybe not quite bitter enough). Pretty thick and creamy for an ale. Very warming with the high ALC content. What a great brew. franksnbeans (265), Columbus, Maryland, USA Dec 24, 2007
Pours golden with amber hue with little head and no lacing. Lighter than most DIPAs. Smells of big hops, pine, malt, citrus. Taste is big hops with remarkable balance, especially for a DIPA. Malt and a little bit of spice finish this off. Mouthfeel is medium with good carbonation and 10%ABV seems non existant. Very drinkable. Big beer with a summer feel. Cheers.
IPAsavedMYlife (32), Tallahassee, Florida, USA Dec 17, 2007 This IPA was way sweeter then I expected... definintely a summer favorite. Compared to other IPA’a the hops hide beind the apricot/tangerine flavor. On the tounge, its more viscous then any other IPA’s I have tried. I agree that it is well balanced, and has a hoppy after taste, but nothing like other double IPAs. flemdawg (485), Naples, Florida, USA Dec 16, 2007 Reddish orange body, leaning toward orange, with some haziness and little to no head. A slightly fruity aroma dominated by oranges. There was a bit of caramel in there as well. The hops were more subdued than I had expected, but were still noticable. A slightly sweeter taste than expected. Sugary, citrusy with some peaches. There were some bitter hops, but not much and not lingering. A very clean finish. fishingnet (1045), Brandon, Florida, USA Dec 14, 2007 Bottle. Pours a clear light copper with a small white head that fades to a ring and leaves good lacing. Aroma of floral, grassy, and citrus hops with a solid backbone of sweet malt and a hint of caramel. Taste is the same as aroma. Medium full mouthfeel with a moderate amount of bitterness and medium carbonation. Alcohol is very well hidden. Very well balanced and very good. dpjuart (670), Indiana, Pennsylvania, USA Dec 14, 2007 12 oz. bottle. Pours orange with a light gold tint and foamy white head, about a finger an a half that quickly disapates. Good lacing. Grass and citrus hoptastic nose. Hint of carmel accent. Bitter hops, grass and citrus flavor, a bit floral, then a good carmel malt backbone, leading to more bitterness in the finish. Dry and bitter after. Good, solid offering. Not crazy complex, but what DIPA is. Mouthfeel is thick, with medium carbonation. Hides the 10%+ ABV well. Almost too well. I would have thought this a session beer, until looking at the stats. Highly drinkable and a definate repeat. nearbeer (1833), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA Dec 4, 2007 12 oz. Clear, burnt orange and gold with a medium-sized creamy head that leaves some sticky cobwebs. Spicy orange, cream, and caramel aroma. Big creamsicle front fades to grapefruit and honey, then to a delicious evergreen resin-citrus finish. Palate is smooth and light-medium bodied with a crisp finish. Wow, awesome selection of hop additions to make this one seem somehow only slightly jilted to the bitter side, yet 75 IBUs!
