iswain1914 (19), USA Oct 15, 2007 This beer is an achievement in the field of shitty, over-hopped, poorly balanced american IPAs. Don’t be misled, this beer is VERY hoppy, however this fine american company remembers something that few microbreweries do: AN EXTREMELY HOPPY BEER MUST BE BALANCED BY A SUBSTNTIAL MALTY BACKBONE!!!!! Rememeber that Dogfish Head. And 10% alcohol too. Good for you Stoudts. AOF (282), Naperville, Illinois, USA Oct 14, 2007 Dark copper in color with a nice off white head. Slightly hazy in the glass. Crisp hoppy aromas. Lots of grapefruit, orange, and ctirus rind. A bit of earthy pine and summer florals. Medium in body with a crisp, dry bite to it. Crisp is the key word, not bitter like some lesser DIPAs. Perfectly carbonated. An outstanding beer. craftbeerdesign (731), Alpharetta, Georgia, USA Oct 5, 2007 bottle. outstanding IIPA! Stoudts delivers on this one.... very hoppy in character from start to finish. The finish on this one is awesome... pours a deep golden with a thin white head that becomes a perfect lacing. Aromas of hops and pine. Thick body on the back of the tongue full of hops - you can taste the dry hopping. It sticks with you for a while in the finish. Excellent palate overall. The abv is hidden well - was surprised to learn the content... also some notes of apricots to it. Will definitely buy again. decaturstevo (1971), decatur, Tennessee, USA Oct 1, 2007 A deep amber pour with an off white head. A hops nose with hints of malt. A rich sweet flavor that is followed by a good bitter. There was just a bit of an off after taste on the first of the beer that kept me from rating it a little higher. Solid palate and carbonation good beer. jwdevalue (158), Neptune, New Jersey, USA Sep 29, 2007 This is part of a beer club. Had only one bottle but was decent for the price. Poured great and had a nice finish. Would do again. malrubius (969), Valley Stream, New York, USA Sep 29, 2007 12 ounce bottle in pint glass. Bright clear copper with flat off-white head and some lace. Mild hop aroma with some pine and malt. Well-balanced fruitiness, pine, and mild bitterness. Very smooth for a strong IPA. Full-bodied, medium carbonation. An excellent beer, although I still prefer sessionable IPAs. efrumtheidiot (190), Maryland, USA Sep 28, 2007 pours a cloudy amber with a decent bubbly white head. sweet grapefruit citrusness. a dab of pine and alcohol comes through a with some zip. decent flowery hops & some bitterness. a much better than average IPA. RblWthACoz (963), Brooklyn, New York, USA Sep 28, 2007 Pours a clear amber orange with a big creme head that falls fairly slowly. Nose is like strawberry starburst candy (yeah...I said that) and hops mixed. Flavor is pretty sweet. I guess that candy nose plays more into effect than I thought it would. Not much else comes through here except that sweet tone, no hop character to speak of at all really. Feel is decent. Lots of bubble getting the tongue and a slightly thicker liquid feel. Drinkable, just not as smooth or mature as other DIPAs.
