Nose is bright and sweet. Mandarin oranges, graham crackers, dry autumn leaves. Licks of frosting. Fireworks of blackberry and currant fruitiness lend a brilliant, dark sweetness to distinguish the taste from more average examples. Lively citrus tastes complement. Alcohol is mild if not mostly hidden. Burnt toffee and predictable caramel malt stickiness finishes. This is lengthy, with an appropriately moderate thickness. It isn’t too much, resulting in something surprisingly easy to enjoy. Thanks Lou! HopHeadinAZ (120), USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Sep 6, 2007 12oz bottle: Pours a hazy orange with a finger’s worth of ivory head. Somewhat subtle aroma of citrus hops surprising for the style. The taste is malty with toffee and an astringency on the tongue. Alcohol is also noticeable. Purchased at Whole Foods in Manhattan so I’m not sure of the storage or age. HopBackDoc (393), Hatboro, Pennsylvania, USA

Floral hop aroma. Flavor was citrus hops followed by a caramel and toffee sweetness and ending with a great bitter hop finish. Very good double IPA. tunneler (112), Charlottesville, Virginia, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Sep 2, 2007 nice head on a fairly thick-bodied beer. Strong hop odor but not as crisp or aromatic as others in this category. Overly sweet though. surffisher (195), Raleigh, North Carolina, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Sep 1, 2007 Pours deep golden (clear at first, then hazy with bottom sediment) with a thick uneven cream colored head that subsides to a nice thin cover; minimal lacing. Nose is of caramel malts, honey and floral, citrusy hops; somewhat subdued. Excellent balanced flavor; bitter but not overly so. Hop profile is citrusy (orange, grapefruit). Smooth and full-bodied with moderate carbonation. Some alcohol warmth, but does not detract. An excellent and big DIPA. kp (8400), Woodstock, Georgia, USA

Softer hops taste than the nose indicated, but very good all the same. Full bodied, quite bitter and very bold. Terrific! Thanks mds. Hudspart (371), Hudsonville, Michigan, USA
