Commercial Description:
Stoudt's Double IPA is a strong, full-bodied ale with an intense hop character and deep golden color. This unusual brew is characteristic of the newly recognized style of extremely hoppy and malty ales of American origin. The Double IPA is our strongest beer with an alcohol of over 10% abv and bitterness of more than 75 IBU's. Multiple kettle hop additions and generous dry hopping contribute to the powerful yet smooth and fragrant hop character of this beer. 10% abv.

Bottle from JB175; nose of some citrus hops and caramel malt; orange with a medium offwhite head; flavor of mild hop bitterness, sweet caramel, and a litlle vanilla thrown in. A little unusal balance for a DIPA, not all that hoppy.

Tap at Stoudts. Orange color with a very hoppy nose. Quite a bit of bite in the first sip . Bitterness stays throughout to the finish. A solid hoppy brew.

Bottle. Orange-cherry malt and moderate pine hops aroma. Amber with large head. Sweet light orange flavor blended with strong pine/grapefruit hops and a hint of alcohol bite - hops lingers quite a while after swallowing but light and very pleasant.

Appearance: Orange-copper color, marked by some scant haziness, and crowned by a frothy white head. Solid head retention and spectacular lacing. Smell: Fragrant fruitiness (pineapple) and citrus characteristics mingle amidst the piney hop aroma. Also, there’s a considerable amount of malt in the nose. There’s a touch of alcohol too, but it’s very insignificant amongst the other key components. Taste: Initial bitterness, which soon gives way to layers of luscious, juicy tropical fruit flavors. Soon, and moreso as the beer warms, sweet caramel malts emerge to add a bit of balance to the hops. The finish is dry, though very brief, leaving the tongue free and clear of any scalding hop oil aftertastes. Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. The gentle carbonation rescues this beer from ever becoming syrupy, instead allowing it to simply be splendidly mouth-coating. Drinkability: Altogether drinkable, especially with the 10% ABV never becoming offensive. A delightful beer, and along with Stoudt’s Fat Dog, is one of my favorites among this brewery’s offerings.

This is good beer. It pours a beautiful golden color with a great amount of carbonation. The beer has a unique aroma and flavor that I can’t quite put my finger on. Lighter than other DIPA’s I’ve tried and it does conceal it’s alcohol content well. Good hop profile yet very smooth and well balanced. Very enjoyable, I will definitely buy this again.

Robe dorée très claire surmontée d’une mousse blanche mince. Arômes de levures, de pain, de caramel et de houblon fruité. Saveurs de blé, d’alcool et de malt caramélisé.
