Commercial Description:
Stoudt's Double IPA is a strong, full-bodied ale with an intense hop character and deep golden color. This unusual brew is characteristic of the newly recognized style of extremely hoppy and malty ales of American origin. The Double IPA is our strongest beer with an alcohol of over 10% abv and bitterness of more than 75 IBU's. Multiple kettle hop additions and generous dry hopping contribute to the powerful yet smooth and fragrant hop character of this beer. 10% abv.

Thanks Brewblackhole for this great one! Golden color. Smell of hops, apricots, candy raisins, caramel, malt, pine, cotton candy and pine. Tastes just like it smells but better. What a great dry, bitterness at the end. I can definitely taste the alcohol in this one. Great hop and grapefruit taste. What a great DIPA!

Bottle. 12 FL. OZ. Very clear orange color with very little head that disappears completely. Hoppy, peach aroma with light citrus. Dry with little carbonation. Flavor is much sweeter than I expected yet still with a long bitter finish.

Pours a nice gold to copper orange. Smells of citrus, mainly lemon, some grassiness, and also a little dose of sweet malt and piney-ness. Taste follows with a bitter finish that is laced with alcohol taste. The bitter/alcohol finish is at first a little too harsh for my own tastes, even though I usually enjoy the style, but it improves as it approaches room temp and the maltiness is more evident.

pours dark and with a near brown foam in a sniffer. citrus hops meet with a thick malt taste. not as bitter as other double ipa’s from avery or great divide but still worth a taste/

Draft @ Frisco Grille in Columbia, MD. Pours deep amber into the snifter. Looks good, smells good. Typical hop aroma of grapefruit citrus, pine. Decent. Tasted like a big DIPA, lots of bitterness. This was one of the more bitter DIPA’s I have had yet. Strong @ 10+%

From a bottle pours rich amber color, with a good amount of head that leaves a little lacing. Nice smooth flavor, followed by a good finish.

I was truly impressed with this beer. It pours a slightly hazy amber, with a small white head that sticks around, leaving lacing on the glass with every sip. The aroma is obviously of bitter hops. The flavor is a nice bite of hops, followed by a long malt finish. I would not have been able to guess the ABV of this beer by the taste. Overall, a highly recommended IIPA.
