| 4.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 10/10 | 5/5 | 19/20 | Apr 26, 2007 I was truly impressed with this beer. It pours a slightly hazy amber, with a small white head that sticks around, leaving lacing on the glass with every sip. The aroma is obviously of bitter hops. The flavor is a nice bite of hops, followed by a long malt finish. I would not have been able to guess the ABV of this beer by the taste. Overall, a highly recommended IIPA. agl108 (503), Manayunk, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Apr 24, 2007 12 oz. bottle at Zeno’s, Penn State. Poured hazy burnt orange with splotchy off-white head. There were also some darker shreds of hops floating in the beer upon first pour that eventually settled to the bottom. Weaker, hoppy aroma. Pretty smooth and definitely lacking the bitterness I was expecting for a beer that’s 10.6%. millysdaddy (67), Alexandria, Virginia, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Apr 24, 2007 12 oz. bottle. Pours a clear, oragne amber with a nice, white head. Aromas of grapefruit and pine along with some caramel. The very hoppy flavor is balanced by lots of seet malt. A very solid IIPA that’s a little on the sweet side. tomthompson89 (1471), Toronto, Ontario, Canada

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Apr 19, 2007 12oz - Aroma has a perfumey air to it followed by citrus hops and caramel. Pours transparent brown-yellow with a small head and sticky lacing. Flavor is strong alcohol, perfume, grapefruit hops and yeast. Palate is crisp and sticky. Too hot and perfumey, like a Vegas prostitute. RiverHorse (454), New Jersey, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Apr 14, 2007 This beer pours a deep orange color with a thick white head. The lacing was ever present and sticky. I smelled citurs and hops with some alcohol kick. The taste was very nice up front with a little bitter kick at the end. It has much much of the normal tastes of the other IIPAs, but there was a complexity missing that I was looking for. This is a nice beer, but doesn’t live up to some of the better IIPAs. This has been sitting on deck for a few months now. I’m trying to purge as many double IPAs as possible before they turn into barleywines. This one is no exception. Perhaps it is the style but I am finding my palate is slowly burning out on heavily hopped beers. While this was still enjoyable I felt as if I was drinking it to finish it rather than to enjoy it. Still, this beer deserves its place in the top 5% of beers on the site.
Aroma / Appearance - Peaches and grapefruit make it obvious that this is a double IPA from the start. Orange rinds, dark chocolate and lemons linger in the nose without overpowering the senses. For a double it is a little subdued. The body is a transparent bronze with medium carbonation dancing around the glass. A one finger bleached white head tops it off.
Flavor / Palate - A hoppy resinous mouthfeel coats the tongue from the first second. Warm oranges and tangerines rinse the palate before a vinous taste unfolds. Tea like sensations smooth over the transition to semisweet chocolate with a butterscotch finish. Overall it was not a bad experience though towards the end I was glad to get to the bottom of the bottle. demitriustown (693), Shelby Township, Michigan, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Apr 13, 2007 12 oz bottle: Aroma is a big fruity hop blast with grapefruit, bubblegum, spicy hop aromas intermingled. Appearance is a clear amber color with a huge fluffy white head that lingers around for a while. Tastes like grapefruit, somewhat sour and acidic, really benign hops. I thought that this would be big on. The bubblegum and citrus flavors come through on the back end. Overall, I have to concur with my fellow ratebeerians in saying this is a rather watered down IIPA. There are much better.
