Aug 14, 2009 In short: An annoyingly sweet IPA with orange flavoured hopping
How: Bottle 12oz. Consumed very fresh the day of purchase
The look: Almost clear golden-orange body topped by a medium off-white head
In long: Nose of oranges, sweetness and some tropical fruits. First striking feature of this beer is how aggressive the sweetness is. Very sugary caramel (more sugary than caramel). I suspect a lot of crystal malts. Hops have a dried fruits (mainly oranges) flavour along with some fresh oranges but not enough. This is too sweet to be refreshing and not round/rich enough to be nourishing. Alcohol is slightly apparent. I don’t remember last time I had it, maybe it was my first. And probably my last. This beer is about as well balanced as my diet.

Aug 11, 2009 Rather disappointed by this one. Clear light gold like colored water, taste was ok. Light white head, not alot of flavor....kinda weak on smell.

Aug 5, 2009 Had alongside an ’07 and ’08 bottle of Dogfishead 90 minute, and it just couldn’t compare. Not big enough in malt or hops to compare to the really good dipas/imperials.

Jul 30, 2009 Bottle. Pours golden with a large, fluffy head. The aroma and flavor is that of sweet, citrus hops with a nice malty backbone. Medium bodied with moderate carbonation. This imperial IPA isn’t one of those extremely bitter brews, but rather a very well-rounded one.

Jul 24, 2009 Would get this again...a real firecracker. Sweet and hoppy IPA. Good alcohol content. Aroma and color - nothing in particular stands out, just amber-like and floral-smelling. Little head. Just a solid imperial IPA.

Jul 7, 2009 Bottle sample at the Columbus Alefest on 6/27/09. Clear gold pour with a big off-white head. Orangy hop aroma with some bready malt. Malty flavor up front with a touch of alcohol and a bunch of orangy hops in the finish.

Jun 29, 2009 12 oz. bottle. on the small side white fizzy head (quickly and almost fully dissapating) into clear copper body. aromas of moderate hops and some malts (actually not as biting as I was anticipating) although the alochol is present (not overpresent). flavor-initially light-mod bittersweet. finishes- light to moderate bitter. Not the best Double IPA but also not the worst.
