highlights. Ooops! I musta missed the “bottle conditioned” imprinted on the label b/c I
didn’t decant the second pour. Lotsa sea monkeys suspended in my glass. Oh well... The
average bone colored head is mostly lasting with creamy spidery lace. The real story here
is the brew’s exceptional flavor. Great balance and spectacular depth can keep you
guessing all day long. Never a dull moment as they say. Moderate acidity, with plenty of
sweetness tumbling around with the bitters on your taste buds. The full body is very
creamy and soft. Very nice. unclemattie (2401), Georgia, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/20 | Aug 30, 2006 Hazy, yeasty orange amber appearence. Heavy malt aroma!! Slight pine bitterness in the finish. But mostly malt.?. This is un-characteristically sweet... It seems to be more of a bitter american tripel than an double ipa ( with the exception of lack of begian yeast). May have to update their recipe. Unless they were just going for a high alcohol IPA? BCAR (216), Naperville, Illinois, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 2/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Aug 30, 2006 12 oz. bottle. I think I had an off bottle, as this beer poured with in impregnible veil of sediment. Nose is of alocohol and rich pine. Flavor is skewed on the bitter end and not incredibly balanced. Alcohol dominates and the finish is sour/bitter. I’ll try some other time. holdenn (1437), Chicago, Illinois, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Aug 30, 2006 12oz bottle pours a dark orange with a fluffy head and an aroma thats grapefruit and malt. First sip comes through as lightly bitter, malty and almost overly sweet. But this fades to a lasting piney earthy finish that lingers on your tongue for a while. bb (2905), Martinez, California, USA

Grapefruit and pine aroma, but not as strong as most IIPAs. Resiny, caramel flavor with good balance. Finished with grapefruit and resin. Fuller bodied. Not overly hopped, but still good. Seems to oxidize quickly. milewide (609), Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA

Bit on sweet side. Good body. MacDaddyOJake (274), Richmond, Virginia, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Aug 19, 2006 Aroma is all hops. Taste is heavy, with ample malt and hops.... they must have just crammed them in this beer. Long hoppy finish that was a little bitter, but tasted pretty good. I never would have guessed 10.6% alcohol. The alcohol was well masked and after I finished, it certainly didn’t feel like I had just drank a beer with 10.6% alcohol. Not bad, but it seems like a forced attempt at a new kind of beer. jblendy (518), Midland Park, New Jersey, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Aug 19, 2006 Pours cloudy dark orange with a thick creamy beige/orangy head. Some slight lacing. Aroma at first is mostly sweet caramel malt but reveals some nice hops later on (in a half empty mixer). Flavor is fairly balanced, a little heavy on the caramel maltyness for me, but has some nice citrusy (mostly lemon)/piny hops on the finish. Leaves lemony hops on the palate with a bit of the caramel malt. Overall, very good for the style, just a little too malty for me.
