Aroma is really weak. I think I smell grapefruit and a sweet/tart-cotton candylike aroma. The taste is a nice round hop flavor due to a late hop addition to the boil. There could be a bit more hop bitterness for this style beer. The flavor has no real stand out elements. It’s smooth. I taste the malt sweetness that mixes well with the hop flavor which results in a sweet and sour candy like taste. It’s a nice flavor. The beer finishes with a sweet and tart flavor along with the warmth of the alcohol. This beer is really good but isn’t what I was expecting due to the lack of actual hop bitterness. I will be buying it again. mjg74 (1997), La Mesa, California, USA

Strong hoppy aroma. Quite piney with some sweetness as well. Flavor is somewhat hoppy up front, not as hoppy as I would have guessed though. Fairly malty with only a moderate hoppy kick. Alcohol is very well hidden. Easy drinking, but not a great 2IPA. redave (133), squaw valley, California, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | May 18, 2006 Bottle. Rather dark amber. Smell is slightly malty, very slightly floral, but not as strong as suspected. Nice brownish cream colored head that faded as it went down the glass. Very sticky lace all the way down. Strong malt with some hop balance. Definitely stronger alcohol level. [not marked on bottle] {but i do love the bottled on date stamp} I am looking forward to my next bottle. This is my first PA IPA of any kind. Glad to see this american trend for full and complex flavored beer trend is not just west coast! I love the hone brew look of this beer, bottle conditioned, hazy light amber / orange color with a big frothy, clingy laced head ..perfect.. unexpected.
I love the malty tone , balanced with flavoring hops.. quite nice... malty is always good in my books. sweet balance between hops n malt....
Lingering beauty.. finishes a bit sweet, (cara-pils)... against most , expectected a dryer finish.. not as quenching..but palate wanting more!! boto (1334), Granby, Connecticut, USA

It had a fairly strong off-white head that leaves a good bit of lacing down the glass. The aroma is quite good. The hops are quite evident, with a strong citric flavor. Some malts evident above the hops, but tough to pick out. Very strong hop flavor, yet not overly bitter. This one has a nice balance to it. A small amount of the malt sweetness comes through in the aftertaste. Very nice beer! pinkzambia (989), Boise, Idaho, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | May 12, 2006 Bottle Semi-cloudy copper with sticky lacing and a creamy head. Wonderful aromas of sweet citrus. The residual sugars are easily caught in the taste, almost overpowering the bitter hop flavor. Still, it is easily identifiable as a double IPA due to the classic hop character as well as the syruppy look and feel. Carbonation seems above average. Being a little sweeter, it doesn’t make you cringe upon each drink like other doubles. Pretty good. Thanks Indiana_Red for sharing. IndianaRed (1555), Boise, Idaho, USA

Huge fluffy sandy colored head. Persistant heavy lacing. Very nice citrusy tangerine rind aroma. You can tell this is a high grav IPA just from the aroma. Nice heavy malt flavore profile with the ABV coming through. Not overly hoopy and biter but balanced and rounded. Late woody bitter trailer. Nice fine lively carbonation. A hefty IPA that is not that obnoxious for a double. Thansk Capt. The aroma is light, but once your nose is in there it has a great hoppy light-citrus sweet smell to it. Excellent taste, paired with some curry to really set it off. The sweetness is balanced out very well with the hops for a full flavor to the beer. It’s not overly bitter for me. A very good IPA - not as strongly hopped as some of the Imperials, but a perfect balance overall. I’d drink this again.
