radagast83 (1273), Fairfax, Virginia, USA May 4, 2006 Bottle. Not too bad. Dark yellow/orange color. Malty, deffinately an IPA. Hoppy and an alright finish. Saarlander (1577), Saarlouis, Germany May 2, 2006 Pretty sweet, sticky on the lips, would have liked it to be hopped more. Alcohol is well hidden. Drinkable, but not great. Bought at Hollingsheads,Orange, Ca Sven (229), Lancaster, California, USA May 1, 2006 Deep golden amber in colour, short lived head. Very malty, especially for an IIPA. Hop flavor is pleasant but unfortunately quite diminished. Naven (864), Poway, California, USA May 1, 2006 Bottle, via trade with Jimbowood. Decent IIPA. I dont know if my bottle was bad, but It didn’t taste very hoppy to me. It was thick and syrupy like. Way too sweet for my tastes. Nothing like the Double IPA’s I am used to.
beastiefan2k (1590), Lawrence (formely NYC), Kansas, USA Apr 30, 2006 On tap at the Hop Devil Grill. Poured into a pint glass. Color is orange, translucent, can kind of see through the beer. The flavor is well balanced, not overpowering like a lot of Imperials IPAs. Bitterness is present and strong but nothing like the GD Hercules. Hoppy but not over the top, as well. Great effervescent feeling left on the tongue. I’ll take this IIPA over most of the top rated ones. MrWalker (927), Stockholm, Sweden Apr 29, 2006 Bottle @ Oliver Twist, Stockholm. Vintage 2004 Bread like and slightly burned toast aroma. Odd initial taste with some chemical chewing gum oddness. Very dry. Very, very dry. Some nougat. Harsh aftertaste. I belive this beer does not get better with age. sayravai (3720), Helsinki, Finland Apr 29, 2006 Updated: Apr 30, 2006(Bottled, 2004 vintage, 140 SEK/12 fl.oz!) Very hazy red-amber color with a small, lasting head. Crisp, strongly flowery-hoppy aroma with lots of exotic fruit. Raw-malty base with lots of aromatic, flowery hops thrown on top. Sandelwood, lavender, mint. Long, flowery-hoppy, dry and bitter, a bit harsh aftertaste. Alcohol is well hidden. Quite full-bodied and sticky with a medium carbonation. Good stuff - the kind a Double IPA should be. yayforbeer (641), Orange Park, Florida, USA Apr 22, 2006 Updated: Jun 2, 2006Aromas of melon, citrus, hops, and malts. Very juicy and delicious smelling. Flavor follows the aromas nicely. Juicy with melon, citrus, and a good balance of hops and pale malts. Mild bitter finish. Full bodied and smooth. For a beer with 10.6% abv, there is hardly any hint of alcohol. So easy drinking and enjoyable you don’t really notice how big this beer is. Tasty and excellent. No fault to be found. Bravo! A little on the expensive side at $13.99 a six at Broudy’s, Orange Park, FL.
