Commercial Description:
Stoudt's Double IPA is a strong, full-bodied ale with an intense hop character and deep golden color. This unusual brew is characteristic of the newly recognized style of extremely hoppy and malty ales of American origin. The Double IPA is our strongest beer with an alcohol of over 10% abv and bitterness of more than 75 IBU's. Multiple kettle hop additions and generous dry hopping contribute to the powerful yet smooth and fragrant hop character of this beer. 10% abv.

Great golden body with a nice white head. Aromasof hops, cherry and pine. Sweet fruit taste with a bitter bite once you get past the initial taste. Very warming in the stomach. An IPA with a Strong Ale character.

I had no idea this was a 10% beer until today. It is just that well balanced. A nice fruity aroma and taste with a little citrus overtone. This is not to heavy for the style. Well well done.

12-oz. bottle from TheBeerCellar2. Pours cloudy copper with a thin film, off-white. Aroma is brown sugar, caramel malt (malt) and fruity hop (peach, pear, apple) and trace yeast. Moderately bitter and acidic, sweet dry caramel malt, nutty malt, plasticy citrus hop tartness. Medium to full bodied, warm and dry palate.

Reddish amber pour with just a fine trace of a sappy head. Hoppy aromas are sweet and floral, as though infused with honey and clover. Rather light and delicate on the tongue relative to other double IPA’s. Hop flavors are more like a light red grapefruit than the "chewy pine resin" trademark of some other brews. Clean, somewhat bitter finish. Alcohol is well hidden, which could be dangerous. This beer is light enough to drink several of them if one were so moved.

Pours a hazy darker orange color with a off white head. A citrusy aroma with small hints of carmelized sugars. The flavor doesn’t come on as strong as I thought it might, heavy hoppy grapefruit notes and just a tad of burnt caramel somewhere in the back. A short bitter aftertaste...feels a bit thin on the tongue for such a big beer...feels more like your standard ipa. Fairly smooth and very drinkable if you enjoy hops.

Pored a slight hazed golden orange with a bubbly white head that quickly turned into a film. Abundant aroma of carmel malt with a backround of citrus, pine and mango. Flavor was slightly sticky with notes of carmel and honey. Some light notes of citrus. not as much as I usually like but the overall balance of flavor realy puts this 2IPA in my top 5

Pours hazy orange red with thin off-white head. Aroma of caramel malt and both piney and grapefruit hops. Flavor has medium hops in start progressing to fairly strong and long lasting bitterness in finish. This is one of the most well balanced between malt/hops I have had for this style. Didn’t know it was 10% until after drinking and reading description. High alcohol well concealed. Very nice.

fruity hop and alcohol aroma. peach color with a large white head. sweet and sticky. tastes like apple juice and orange juice mixed. the alcohol is well hidden and doesnt burn the throat as do the other 2ipa’s i’ve had.
