Commercial Description:
Stoudt's Double IPA is a strong, full-bodied ale with an intense hop character and deep golden color. This unusual brew is characteristic of the newly recognized style of extremely hoppy and malty ales of American origin. The Double IPA is our strongest beer with an alcohol of over 10% abv and bitterness of more than 75 IBU's. Multiple kettle hop additions and generous dry hopping contribute to the powerful yet smooth and fragrant hop character of this beer. 10% abv.

Pours deep amber/gold into a snifter. Cereal, caramel and frat basement floor sweetness. Malty, light, slick and thin. Nice alcohol buzz.

I have to agree with RAYBOY01 on this one. Totally u-turn on impression. But definately not a bad thing. This is a good wind-breaker towards true badass ipas. Not your run of the mill, but def not IPA. This is a mild-hop’d sweet malty brew. Candy, some faint dark fruit flavours and a bit of vanilla....alchohol, I didnt really find, which was good. I didnt even know it was 10% untill I read the description above. I would definately stock a 6er of this or hit it up on tap if the option were availible.

Nothing whatever like I anticipated this to be like. Imperial IPAs are over the top hop devils, no? This one tasted like a very refined APA, with a nice balance of grapefruit bitterness and sweet caramel malt base. Not complaining, but I drink IIPAs for the tongue thrashing I look forward to experiencing. But not so with this one!

Tap. Served in a tulip glass presented with soft hops and malt on the nose. Pours amber with a very nice long-lasting head. Very full-bodied with lots of alcohol, some candy, malts and hops. Bitter in the finish, but not overly hoppy for a 2IPA. Not bad.

At first taste it the sweetness was a pleasent kickoff but the heavy alchohol tastelingered too much and overpowered the hoppiness. Not one i’d be likely to buy again, but certainly would never turn one down if offered.

Copper with golden highlights & peppered with tiny bits of particulate, this beer was topped wtih a thin film & slight halo. Aroma of grapefruity hops & honey, with the honey revealing big in the flavor. This held a steady fruity bitterness & a sharp, spicy middle, but the hops weren’t all "in yo’ face" like other IIPAs I’ve tried.

This is a very sweet double IPA. It hides the alcohol too well. The flavor was very inconsistent as the bottle went on. It went from overwhelmingly sweet, to grassy bitter, to a wierd acidic tangy sort of flavor. It’s not bad, but I’m upset I got a whole 6 pack. *** Rest of the sixer was better. Took it up .2
