steve23mj (273), Essexville, Michigan, USA Dec 22, 2005 Pours copper orange with frothy tan head which disappears quickly with nice lacing on glass. Nose is heavy hops with citrus notes. Sweet and malty. Flavor has sweet, fruity, biscuity character with medium body. Finishes with slight nudge to notice the alcohol presence. BeerRules (237), Houston, Texas, USA Dec 18, 2005 Awesome sweet citrucy aroma. Taste is hoppy and richly sweet. Neither the hops nor the sweetness take over. Very rich coating mouthfeel. Wish the carbonation were a bit higher to make this a bit more interesting. Nonetheless, good beer and thanks to jimbowood for it. Papsoe (14642), Frederiksberg, Denmark Dec 18, 2005 (Bottle 35,5 cl) Slightly hazy amber with a handsome, creamy head. Lightly perfumy, floral aroma. Sweetish malty - actually distinctly sweet. Completely dominated by aroma hops, but not overly bitter. A very accessible IIPA. 271105 SmellGood (315), Memphis, Tennessee, USA Dec 18, 2005 Spectacular! Not better than Ruination, the elixir of the Gods, But pleasantly shocked me with a hops explosion. tjthresh (1749), Greenfield, Indiana, USA Dec 11, 2005 12 oz bottle. Strong grapefruit and toffe aromas. Firey oranges, yellow, and reds. Some visible carbonation. Little white head. Well balanced. Pine and grapefruit. Overall well balanced. Med/full body. Leaves a resin in you mouth. May have been an older bottle. Over not bad, just not a fave. beervana (781), Libertyville, Illinois, USA Dec 9, 2005 12 oz brown bottle purchased at Monk’s café, Philadelphia, PA. Hazy orange hued IPA having small diminishing white head. No discernable carbonation. Nice aroma of fruity esters and hop flowers. Medium-to-full bodied that starts with rich slightly sweet malt and hop flavor. Finishes dry with light lingering hop bitterness. Very well balanced imperial IPA, one of my favorites. Delicious. Aurelius (2643), Tallahassee, Florida, USA Dec 9, 2005 Enough hops to be enjoyable, but not crazy-overboard with the dry hopping. Nice and malty, leans a little towards the sweet side, ABV is well hidden. Dark, burnt orange. Malt and citrus aroma. Good stuff. chriso (4685), London, Greater London, England Dec 3, 2005 Updated: Jul 20, 2006Bottled at the London gathering, November 2005. Thanks to Captain Cougar for bringing this one over. This is certainly hop juice all right. But the emphasis is on massive grapefruit and it didn’t seem to me to have as much of that slick resinous pine character as some other US IPAs I’ve tried. There’s balancing rich malt on the palate. But it is very boozy. I found the alcohol rather intrusive and that detracted from my enjoyment. Orangey amber colour.
