Commercial Description:
Stoudt's Double IPA is a strong, full-bodied ale with an intense hop character and deep golden color. This unusual brew is characteristic of the newly recognized style of extremely hoppy and malty ales of American origin. The Double IPA is our strongest beer with an alcohol of over 10% abv and bitterness of more than 75 IBU's. Multiple kettle hop additions and generous dry hopping contribute to the powerful yet smooth and fragrant hop character of this beer. 10% abv.

bottle. golden/amber effervecent thin bubble head. floral hops, malts, carmel aroma. fruit hops, malt, sugar taste. dry bitter finish. nice.

Bottled 10/13/04. Hazy amber color with a small white head. Fruity, hoppy aroma with some citrus and pine. Flavor was quite hoppy and bitter at first, with the malt coming next, and finishing with an alcoholic bite. A touch more malt flavor would make this beer much better, at least to me.

I was expecting something pretty special here and I was really let down by the fact that I could get nothing at all from this nose-wise.It looks great,nice apricot color,murky but nose is not there. Taste was mild hops and thats about it.

Bottle. Pours orange gold with off white head. Aroma is caramel, malt, hops, floral, and citrus. Flavor is the same with a slight alcohol bite.

Draught at lupulin slam: Bright amber color. Aroma: bubblegum, grapefruit hops. Taste is like southern comfort, citrus, grapefruit, lemon. Medium bodied. Does not hide the alcohol at all.

smells like citrus and hops, but not too much goin on in the aroma. sweet, suagry, soapy, gum were what i got in the taste. lots o hops and some apricot. not the best iipa i have had.

March Houston Tasting. Pours a dark copperish gold with no head. Nose of malt, citrus and hops. Flavor has a rich malt backbone with a great hop sticky sweetness. Very flavorful and rich bodied DIPA.

Bottle. Poured a dark amber in the glass with a creamy off-white head that left big chunky lacing. Sweet caramel aroma. The flavor found caramel, chocolate, and a hoppy back ground. Medium to full body. Mainly sweet but a hint of bitter afterwards. The 10.6% is well hidden and don’t even notice till you wake up in the chair at 2 am.
