Commercial Description:
Stoudt's Double IPA is a strong, full-bodied ale with an intense hop character and deep golden color. This unusual brew is characteristic of the newly recognized style of extremely hoppy and malty ales of American origin. The Double IPA is our strongest beer with an alcohol of over 10% abv and bitterness of more than 75 IBU's. Multiple kettle hop additions and generous dry hopping contribute to the powerful yet smooth and fragrant hop character of this beer. 10% abv.

orange and good head look, very grapefruit and orange citrus aroma, and intense taste. Well drinkable. Surprisingly 10%. Very hoppy yet not bitter as well malted. Medium to full mouthfeel. Great with fish.

Bottle (12oz). Shared with blankboy, my bottle. Hazy orange, large white creamy-rocky head. Lovely resiny-citrus hop aroma, enough malt and lactic sweetness to balance - really nice. Taste is almost too balanced, malt & citrus hops, a little bitter in the finish - solid. Creamy, astringent, lively mouthfeel - really like this one.

Bottle 12oz
Bright hazy orange, creamy slightly porous white top.
Rich aroma, blend of clean alcohol and high alpha hops. Slightly creamy bottom.
Medium bodied with clean warming alcohol. Strong hop presence with creamy finish. Good middle of the road hoppy ale with above average clean alcohol (especially for such potency).

Dark orange gold color. Large sized white foamy head. Aroma is pineapple, apricots and piney hops. A medium to full bodied Imperial India Pale Ale. Malts are fruity (Apricots, pineapple and orange) and sweet. Hops are floral and grapefruity. A big hoppy and malty imperial IPA. Nicely balanced beer, It has a substantial alcohol presence. Nice beer, perhaps a little sweet. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and dry. Aftertaste is slightly bitter.

Bottle from Premier Gourmet. Golden amber body with a big creamy beige head. Moderate resiny hop aroma, light caramel, alcohol, grassy hop notes. Fairly prominent alcohol comes out a lot as the glass warms, moderate bitterness and resin, sweet underlying caramel malt. Medium warming palate. Nice but lacks the gravitas and balance of some others. 7/4/7/3+/15

Draft at BT. Pours an orange body with a thin white head. Huge hoppy floral nose. Sweet grapefruit, pine, a note of honey and loads of citrus punch. Good beer i had no idea it was 10+ on the ABV.

This bottled brew from a bottle shop poured a small sized head of foamy off-white colored bubbles that were and left behind a hazy with fine particulate typically carbonated and an excellent lacing. The aroma was malty musty and mild hop. The mouth feel was very tingly at the start and at the finish. The flavor contained notes of malt and thick with hops.

(Bottled, 2004 vintage, 140 SEK/12 fl.oz!) Very hazy red-amber color with a small, lasting head. Crisp, strongly flowery-hoppy aroma with lots of exotic fruit. Raw-malty base with lots of aromatic, flowery hops thrown on top. Sandelwood, lavender, mint. Long, flowery-hoppy, dry and bitter, a bit harsh aftertaste. Alcohol is well hidden. Quite full-bodied and sticky with a medium carbonation. Good stuff - the kind a Double IPA should be.
