COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Imperial Oatmeal Stout

This unique ale merges the smooth and complex richness of an Oatmeal Stout with the assertive hoppiness of Imperial Stout. Fat Dog has an inviting silky-black color, a prominent roasted malt character, and a chocolatey, coffee-like finish.

12 oz. bottle in a shaker. Thin dark pour with no head. Cocoa aroma with hints of peanut shells and smokiness. Nice sweet flavor with mild coffee background. Very nice imp stout.

Bottle: Pitch black, inky body with a light-tan creamy head that doesn’t last. Aroma of baker’s chocolate, bitter cocoa dust, licorice, creamy oatmeal, a small hint of brown sugar, & mild coffee beans. Flavor is smooth, good balance of bitter & sweet. Oatmeal, chocolate, hints of coffee, faint anise, a touch of roast & char nearing the finish. Body could be a little thicker, but overall this was pretty tasty.

This was poured into a mini snifter. The appearance was a dark brown color with no head and no lacing. The smell had a nice sweet milk chocolate and dark choclate with roasty coffee tones roaming around the beer. The taste took all of those previously mentioned flavors to combine. Sweet gentle tones. A nice sweet rolling roasty aftertaste leads to a quick dry finish. On the palate, this one sat about a medium on the body with a fairly decent sipping to sessionable quality about it. Carbonated nicely, the oatmeal helps to balance to a decent grainy feel. Overall, I’m quite pleased with this beer and would have it again.

Wow, what can I say! Don’t know if I have tried a better oatmeal stout yet. Has an off-black, thick appearance. Medium-heavy carbonation to bring out a frothy mocha-white head. Taste of oats, chocolate malts, hops, and all sorts of other goodies. Can’t wait to buy more.

12 ounce bottle. Opaque black color. Brief beige head. Rich roasted malt aroma has a boozy sweet oatmeal note. Tangy roasted malt flavor has hints of cocoa and earthy coffee notes. Bold and rich with dark malt flavors. Chewy, dark dried fruit finish.

Coffee, caramel, malt, vanilla, oatmeal, light on the palate, hides abv extremely well, dry. This would be a great intro into stouts beer if you don’t like sweet. Would buy again as a delicious easy drinker

bottle @ Jungle Jim’s / Eastgate OH --- Opaque black/brown color, bubbly beige rim head, dots and blobs of lace. Taste is chewy toasted malt that grows into the palate, adding medium hops. On the swallow the malt re-enters, becoming sweeter as it lingers in a medium finish. Recommended.

APPEARANCE - classic stout w nice head. NOSE - roasty when it warms. Very slight sweetness to it. FLAVOR – deep and roasted with slight bitterness. NOTES - overall good beer. MUCH different out of the cooler & when it warms up – it’s a much more probouned than many other stouts.

Bottle at Bierstube in Philly. Opaque brown pour with minimal head - from what started as a nearly frozen bottle. Warmed up to a nice complex dark caramel brew. Medium-thick. Liquorice. Chocolate Twizlers. Ripe figs. Brown bananas. Carob. Raisins. Nice cloudy dark full brew with notes of red brown stone fruit. Works for me.
