From the firkin at Capone's in Norristown, PA. This may be the single best stout I have tried to date, with the possible exception of Southern Tier Choklat. Could've been the firkin. The vanilla flavor and aroma came through so nicely. If you have the opportunity, try this.

Pours black with a medium tan head. Aroma has roasty cocoa and soft sweet vanilla. Flavor is bold and roasty with a burnt note as well as dark chocolate and sweet vanilla. Mouthfeel is light and the finish is burnt vanilla.

I believe this is the 2nd rating from Stoudt’s for me that caps off yet another C-Note of ratings (6,400 now). Draft at Capone’s. Pours thick deep black with tan head. Nose is roasty dark malt, cacao, vanilla, mild hops. Tasted on the sweet side, with an assertive vanilla bean component that matched well with the dark malts and cacao flavors. I’d call this a hefty dessert beer.

Firkin at Capone’s. Poured a dark black color with no head. Aromas of vanilla, roast, chocolate, and some coffee. Tastes of vanilla beans, roast, coffee, and marshmallows. Vanilla present and very nice.

On draft, one of the sleepers of the Black Friday event for me. Poured a flattish black with zero head and no lacing. Aromas of coconut, marshmallow, and smooth roasted coffee. Full bodied. I am not a fan of firkins so this was way too flat for me, If it was carbonated it would be an easy 4.5 in my book.

Pours unclear coffee black with almost no head. On firkin at Capones, thank you Matt. Aroma brings generous coffee and muted vanilla, quite nice. Flavor brings dominant coffee bitterness and vanilla notes are still present after two years. The body is just thick enough and a bit of carbonation even though on firkin makes it smooth.
