Pours a clear straw yellow with a white soapy head. Aroma of bread and some hops. Kind of funky. Remarkably smooth with a grain and hop flavor with malt sweetness on the back end. Nice beer for the style.

A color both eerie and beautiful, since it pours an amazingly bright gold, with an even more amazingly bright head. But I find myself afraid, having grown attached to my Imperial Stout darkness. I shall bolster myself and step towards the light. Smells like a lager, which is good in that it should smell like a lager, but bad in that lagers kinda stink. The flavor rolls across your tongue in a wave of sourdough-conjuring malts and yeasty apple, with a dry, classic finish, easy with a floral bitterness that’s very manageable. Killer feel, wonderful choice when searching for summer beer. (3/27/09)

This beer reminds me of Golden Larger when it was at its height of popularity 20 years ago. Buttery, crisp malt and hops flavor. Typical Stoudts product…excellent balance. Medium body nice smooth finish. This beer won many awards.

Bottle from Charleston Beer Exchange. Pours light gold with a creamy bubbly 2 finger white head. Aroma is definitely bready. There’s a hint of grass. Med body or almost. This is pretty good. Lightly bready and some spicey/grassy bitter. It’s clean. It’s refreshing. It’s almost crisp. This is a good beer. It’s even doing a bit of ring lacing in a light way.

Bottle thanks to ChrisPro for this as part of the Blind BIF (Round 4). Served in a tulip.
Pours a light, clear straw-yellow color with a good white head. Decent retention and the head eventually falls into a short cap. The nose is slightly fruity with a bit of grain. My guess after these two elements was that this was a kolsch. The taste brings a bit of bitterness and floral notes plus some grain and hints of fruit. Light boddy and good carbonation. This drinks really well.

some fruit punch and some grass and then some hops this brew has some sweetness in malt and is a pleasant golden color. a little peppry tingle to the tongue brought together with the typical German style hop and its usual small feeling carbonation. wonder why i had not rated it yet. nice moderately full body.

On tap at Brauhaus Schmitz in Philly. Clear bright golden color with a well-formed white head and pretty good retention. Grainy and floral aroma with sweet malty notes evident. Not exciting, but pleasant. The flavor is very good, with seamless pale malt and floral hops, with a bit of honey. Smooth as hell on the mouthfeel and really drinkable, with a notable lack of the unpleasant aftertaste that BMC beers and lesser examples of this style can have. What this lacks in interesting aroma/taste, it makes up for with extreme smoothness and drinkability. Up there with the better German versions of the style.

Slightly hazy gold pour with a small fizzy head. Aroma and flavor are both marked with sweet malt, bread, and light floral hop presence. Palate is crisp and light. Solid American interpretation.
