This golden 'Helles' style beer is smooth, medium-bodied and always satisfying. Brewed with the finest imported 2-row malt and German noble hops, Stoudt's Gold Lager is widely recognized as one of the finest German-style beers brewed in America.

Somewhere: For some reason I have not had this earlier, as this is one of my favourite styles. Pour is gold (of course), head is white. Aroma is simple, but perfect for the style: bread, yeast, malts, and a hop. Body and taste compliment each other perfectly. No off notes. This is not too heavy like some overwrought American examples of the style. No, this is something you drink in two seconds and reach for another one. This beer is what pale lagers dream of being.

On draft at the Morris Tap & Grill in Randolph. A good example of this style and well done by an American brewer.

Bottle. Aroma is of hay, with slight flowery hoppy. Flavor of a classic lager. Golden color.

Brillantly clear golden straw colored beer. The white frothy head pours about a finger or so. Carbonation, I’d say is about average with big slow rising bubbles. Aroma is light being a lager and all but there is a nice malty backbone. Taste is of sweet malts. There are hints of toasted grains like in a vienna style. Also finishes with a grain or ceral taste. Medium body with a smooth and slightly dry finish. I like this beer becaue it’s light and refreshing and has a pleasent finish.

Poured into a Pilsener glass from a 12 ounce bottle best by 7-25-2012.

A: Clear golden body with lots of carbonation steadily rising to the creamy white head. Head has good retention and leaves residue on the glass.

S: Not much going on here, slight grassy aroma but overall pretty bland.

T: Mild sweetness, slightly earthy flavor and some toasted flavors, not much else going on.

M: Light crisp body.

O: Easy drinking beer, I am enjoying it, but I wouldn’t buy it again.

355ml bottle pours a pale golden color with a small white head which leaves a few spots of lacing on the glass. Aroma is bold spicy hops with some cereal grains. Taste is a sharp hop bitterness which is pleasing and a nice malty sweetness to help balance things out. A very nicely done lager and highly recommended.

On tap at the brewery’s pub pours slight shade darker than straw yellow capped by foamy white head, light lacing remains. Nose is clean with hint of flowers. Nice cereal anf malt body with light bitterness. Grass and flower in the finish. Quite a compliment to the flyers win, the brat sandwich, and a one of a kind tour.

12 ounce bottle. Golden pour with a thin white head. Aroma of yeast and straw. Medium bodied taste with lively yet smooth malt finish. Might be the best US lager I’ve ever had.
