3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Grovlam (4137) - Copenhagen, DENMARK - APR 20, 2008
# 35 Bottle. [Papsoe’s great blind tasting, thanks Henrik!]
Large creamy brown head that mostly lasted. Good display of lacework. This beer ranged from clear to heavy muddy with particles. Color was amber / nut-brown. Aroma of bread, alcohol, vinous, fruit. Over the palate came smooth toasted malt, nice peach and fruit. Full bodied with a soft carbonation. Moderated sweet flavor with light bitterness. Sweet malty and alcoholic finish.

Blind tasting at Papsoes place, another great session, thanks Henrik! Beer #35, came as Stoudts Y2K IPA: Pours slight cloudy orange with a lacing white head. Pinewood dry aroma. Flavour is citric to dry pinewood hops. Mild caramel malt base. Finish is hoppy pinewood with a medium dry bitterness.

850th rating. 2003 vintage 750 ml bottle. Pours a semi clear amber with a thick, yet creamy beige head. Nice lacing. Aroma of tangy and malty citrus, honey and caramel. Taste of tangy hops, malt with a touch of caramel and honey. This has held up nicely.
3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 Miver (609) - Silver Spring, Pennsylvania, USA - JAN 3, 2008
Y2K shared by Dickonsonbeer at YEHA. Poured cloudy amber with medium white head. Aroma is citrus hops. Taste has held up very well for being 8 years old. Great piney, citrus hop taste with a caramel malt undertone. A little sweet but certainly easy to drink. Nice!

Used to drink this back in the day...then they retired it. Why!! Clear orange color with no head. Sweet muted hop flavor.

Madness with the Moose. Not many IPA’s this year. Pours a cloudy copper color with a white soapy head. Aroma of citrus, hops and some malts. Sweet for an IPA-balance between hops and citrus.
3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 dmac (3174) - Toms River, New Jersey, USA - DEC 18, 2007
Bottle shared at Madness w/ the Moose. Pours a light brownish amber with a creamy average size white head. Sweet honey malty amber aroma with some slight hops still holding on. Medium bodied that is very smooth with light carbonation. Sweet flavor with still a slight touch of hops. Probably the best thing to come out of Y2K, far better then all the stupid ass T-shirts.

Dickinsonbeer shared this at Mel’s YEHA. Hazy orange in color with a medium to large white head. Aroma: some oxidized malts, as well a moderate amount of citrus hops. Taste is moderately hoppy with citrus and floral notes as well as some lightly oxidized caramel malts. Body is medium to full and has a smooth texture. I usually like my IPA’s to be fresh- this held up remarkably well considering it is almost 8 years old.

The Y2K version, aged. Now I have had a fresh IPA and this was more mellow. Smooth, not too much hops. Some off flavors, some oxidation but still not too bad. Rich body and some food aspects like bread and butter. Thanks Dickinsonbeer.
3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 beastiefan2k (2082) - Lawrence (formely NYC), Kansas, USA - DEC 16, 2007
Labeled Y2k, provided by Dickinsonbeer at Madness@the Moose YEHA. This must be from either 99 or 2000 but it has done very well for an IPA. Pours with a big head and am orange body, sticky lacing. Aroma is a light dusty hoppiness, not strong but pleasantly there. Behind that is some aged maltiness. Taste is aged hops that are light liy sweet combining with a sticky sweetness both from aged hops and a caramel maltiness. Nice stuff, thanks Paul.
